Horton House School

A typical day involved having to put up with pupils with challenging behaviors and staff who were out of their depth in terms of intelligence and experience. Lots of talk about respect for one another, but it was literally non-existent from fellow pupils and even the staff who seemed to enjoy challenging and provoking pupils which only made matters worse with some pupils talking back and even using violence as a retaliation. Some staff had their favourite pupils and often turned a blind eye to let their favourites bully vulnerable pupils and it was obvious some staff enjoyed getting away with it, to which it only made my morale worse. The school work was so easy some of it could have been completed in a whole term, but when you ask about progression to the next level, the staff made excuses along with gaslighting, were only concerned about getting paid and did not care less for you. Whenever you contribute something good, the staff would challenge your intelligence and shut you down for being clever. Overall, it could have been a great place if the owners had bothered to invest in recruiting and retaining good staff and actual resources instead of holding back all the money and having a positive impact on the pupils' lives.
