Bad school

Dunfermline high school do not seem to care very much about issues between students, especially when it involves sexual assault, rasism or homophobia/transphobia. The school seems to protect the wrong people.

Turn a blind eye to bullying.

Awful school.
Daughter was verbally and physically bullied for 4 years.
School's response was "oh, it can't be those girls, they are nice girls. Maybe your daughter should leave and go elsewhere"
Turns out the girls were daughters of said teachers friends.
Even now my daughter is still traumatised by the events.
So, if you have a choice, do not send your children to this school.

class teachers are this schools only redeeming quality

depending on department, actual class teachers can be amazing. I can say with confidence that I probably would not be going to university if I hadn't had the teachers I did for S5. I can't comment on the lunch hall since I've always brought meals in, but the food seems okay, if overpriced.
the reason for the low rating comes down to a few things. in junior year classes I noticed misbehaving students were unfairly rewarded for just showing up and given preferential treatment because at least they weren't doing something worse. another thing I hated was the way they went about my exams. I have dyslexia, a learning disability, but for some reason I had to prove in every class, every year, that I still in fact needed support (again, it's a disability, not a curable disease). my main complaint is probably the guidance. at first I thought it might just be that I didn't click with my guidance teacher, but it appears to be a school wide problem as I'm yet to hear something good about guidance after 6 years. for want of better phrasing, upon being emailed about some severe mental health issues I was struggling with, my guidance teacher was more concerned with getting class resources back than they were making sure I was coping.
this review is lengthy and I haven't even mentioned the lack of action against homophobia, or bullying in general.

Schools good pupils aren’t

Good organisation and good teachers but pupils aren’t well behaved. Lunch meals aren’t very good but just the same as any other school

this school is phenomenal, management are great and staff are great, if you apply yourself you will have good results because the teachers are just great

couldn’t be worse

absolutely awful, the only help you’ll get is a call home and a **** ** ** ****** ******. they don’t care for you, only for their reputation. they favourite the badly behaved students and if you come in and mimic their actions you’ll get in trouble not them, and don’t care for you. guidance only guide you to the door, take nothing you’ve said into concideration and you’ll just get worse if you seek for help.
the food is goddamn awful, staff everywhere are ignorant and if you so try to talk to them about what you’re being scolded for you’ll just get scolded more.
they handle nothing, simply tell you to get over it and don’t care for your safety or opinions.

Really not great

Teachers make me uncomfortable and never feel as if I can go to guidance staff for support, school does very little to help support students struggling with mental health and basically tell you to get over it. Majority of teachers couldn’t care less about anything but our grade and give most focus towards badly behaved kids.

- the food in the dinner hall could have more heathy options

Not that great

Guidance and higher staff seem to care very little about students. Always seem more focused on poorly behaved pupils and give no attention to students needing help. Teachers are awful with very few making me feel safe.

awful

don’t care about the pupils that truly need help, guidance staff are awful, teachers rarely care about their students and the ones that do are scorned or laughed at by management, they basically run no advanced highers and they do not care about creative subjects at all
