Flint High School

this school is awful. I cannot believe I actually sent my child here out of anywhere in Flintshire. please do not send your child here if you don't want them to get verbally abused every.single.day. teachers are absolutely zero help with mental health or bullying but instead all they care about is how good that school looks on paper, how students present themselves and what their Estyn rating is. absolutely appalling staff. certain staff at this school seem to love picking on children and belittling them and when pulled up on this behaviour towards their students all they say is "we are preparing them for the outside world" yes I get that others will pick on you throughout your life but not your BOSS?!! also keep in mind if your child is bullied and they stand up for themselves, they will ALSO get punished?!?! whether that be isolation or exclusion permanent or temporary, how is that fair?! my child has currently gone through 3 years of mental torture due to this school and my child was a lovely, bright, optimistic and positive child, but after only 8 months in this school it completely flipped my child's mental state around causing them to go through counselling from this schools staff and students. please don't send your child here.

This school is very bad

Absolutely horrendous since the change of headteacher. She is condescending, unreasonable and unwilling to listen to anything that does not follow her own opinion. If the child is deemed 'easy' then they'll be fine. Anything more and they'll be hung, drawn and quartered before even being spoken to. Such a shame as the school otherwise is pretty positive

Although most teachers take the lessons seriously, they all seem to have an issue with treating students with respect and as an equal. There is more concern over behaviour than education. There is more concern with controlling what girls wear and how long boys' hair is, than the wellbeing of the students. I did earn good grades but only through pure perseverance. There were only 1 or 2 teachers there that honestly cared for the students enough to help them through their mental struggles, home life, bullying and general school issues. My younger siblings attend there and are seriously considering moving schools.

I'm in Year 9 so far, and it has quite literally saved my life. My home, and my chosen family is what I live for. And this is it. They teach us well and care for us all. I love it.

I used to hate it, but that was only because I thought everyone was against me, but I was turning them against me. I love it and I always have done, the teachers are like family the students are either your freinds or you have beef with them, and that's fun. I don't wanna leave, because I wont be able to survive without certain members of staff. I just think they're my safety net.
