High school education

Ignorant, non-caring, insincere & pretentious

Overall, communications from them are atrocious, lacking and out of textbook replies, if they even bother to reply in the first place. It's a non-denominational school that forces students to go to church without option for exclusion.
Their ideas of good students are only selected few that they choose to favour. Often ignore misbehaviour in class quoting that it wasn't serious enough. They state school rules that they themselves bypass and ignore all the time, making it double standard for what fits them. They do nothing to help students who struggles and just give excuses to parents (myself and others that I know).
When organising events, information is selectively shared with favorable parents only while others aren't even aware of what's happening. Badly organised events all the time with last minute notice or none at all.
Chose the school since it supposedly have an additional support needs (ASN) unit for learning with autism-specific elements as stated on the NAS website, but they don't seem to know what they're doing. When questioned during a meeting that takes nearly a month or more to organise, even with only a few staff within the school, they removed themselves from NAS website. That is pure misguided information from the start, as good as lying to everyone.
The ASN team and teachers had to go through training only after everything went terrible wrong with one of my child. The ASN staff to provide support and shadow was only for the first 2 weeks. Even with all the advanced information provided, they still did nothing. Required ASN personnel from outside, even then, they still didn't follow through with steps to follow through. Don't even know the quirks associated for one of the most common condition.
Thought that things might be better for another child without ASN, it was not any better.

Gryffe is known for being one of the best schools in Scotland. I agree that it's better than other schools in some ways but it is just like any other school. There's vaping we've had drugs. Same as other schools, we do had a lot of sport achievements which Gryffe loves to display in the office. I would say personally that my education is average

My experience!

I hate that place. I get bullied daily and as much as bullying is not the schools fault. The way they handle it allows it to continue and get worse. I feel unsafe at school as there have been many incidents of violence towards friends of mine and threats of them towards me, I once also was nearly hit by an explosive thrown by some boys in the year above me, which the school did nothing about. The facilities are appalling and barely work. The bathrooms have locks that don’t work, half the ceiling is gone, the toilets are always clogged and the floor is vile, the changing rooms are cramped and uncomfortable to change in and the teachers are unhelpful when it comes to both physical and mental health matters despite the school being advocates for mental health. This is school has not only caused a lot of mental damage and pain, it has also caused my grades to suffer immensely! I do not think I have ever hated a school more than I have hated gryffe!

Gryffe’s Excellences

Gryffe strive for achievement and they do it very well. In their recent of-stead inspection they received an excellent making it the first excellent of secondary schools in scotland. The grades achieved at Gryffe are of a very high standard and all staff are amazing!
