Bullying

Great school but when it comes to bully they are useless and support the bully. The bulling has been going on for several years. The child being bullied also has additional needs (autistic) the school has been great supporting my child additionally needs however they haven’t been good dealing with the bullying. Instead of resolving the issue of bullying they have made the decision to put the bully in the same class as my child despite agreement that they wouldn’t have them in the same class. Due to parents refusing him to be moved class my son has to be in a class with his bully or change classes. My child was unable to get his first choice in subject and that is the reason they have put them in the same class as the bully.Teachers and myself have noticed the pupil is showing signs of trauma from the bullying. This issue is still on going, this pupil is bullying several people in this school yet nothing is being done about it. complaints have been put through appropriate channels and now local MP will be involved. The school has let my child down, school is a place to learn and feel safe yet they are putting my child in the vulnerable position having the bully into my child’s class. My child is one of many that is being bullied by this individual yet the school is favouring the bully

Protects bad teachers

The school protects bad teachers, the school refuses to take action against teacher who make fun of and basically bully student. They always put themselves first over the student and treat all students like children, including the students who are adults themselves.

Definitely worth attending

Excellent experience. The freedom that teachers are given to customise their classrooms is truly inspiring.
The curriculum is well executed and I feel like I have been enriched by the variety of clubs and extra-curricular activities they have on offer.
The Caskieben Guidance teachers are wonderful and lovely to talk with.
The seniors are very approachable, as are senior management, and the S1s always behave and take their personal health seriously. It also has a great anti-bullying network.
Overall an amazing place

Really not very good

The school has seriously deteriorated over the past few years. Decisions like moving registration after break which just makes no sense are becoming common, the new S1s get worse every year, the majority of people smoke, nothing is really done about actual bullies. Budget allocations in PE were blown on useless equipment for games that no one has ever heard of before and no one likes.

Most of the teachers are alright, but the higher ups seem to be on a mission to make the school miserable, especially after covid.

For a short while there was a push to wear two different disposable masks every day, changing them half way through the day. If you wore a reusable mask you would be told to take it off and given a disposable one instead, which completely goes against the "eco schools" or whatever they call it.

The building is generally alright inside, but looks its age on the outside.

The head teacher is unapproachable and seems like she thinks she's running a nursery, not a secondary school.

Although its not the schools fault, we're still working under the SQA, which is literally being abolished next year because its so awful.

Generally a rather poor school, though I'd imagine its better than many in the rest of Scotland.

Most teachers are useless some know what there doing. Pretty much everyone does drugs and smokes. No one follows the covid guide lines and the guidance teacher don’t help with anything

Great school and great teachers

I recently had to move from Inverurie because they were no help with my anxiety and the teachers weren’t good but once I moved to Kemnay the teachers were a great help and did everything they could to help me catch up with work and even to help get my work done in ways that made me less anxious.
