My issues with the school
I hate this school so much its so bad when people are in the bathrooms and they want to lock the bathrooms which is an issue in itself a teacher either being the male head teacher or the head of the physical education department and they will yell at girls to get out lots girls are vaping but some of the girls just want to use the toilet another problem is the phone issue I get it, it is a big issue with pupils taking there phone out in class and not caring about the consequences but in events a parent or carers trys to phone you the teachers will not let you pick it up I get it I could be overreacting but I think if a parent or carer phones you in the middle of class its probably an emergency because I know parents and carers are just as on board with the phone rules as the staff are if it wasn't an emergency they would phone the office and not my phone
Horrible school
I’m a student at this school and it’s joke you can’t go in the school in the mornings cause the doors are locked and you can only go in the back where the canteen is.
Mr smart always goes in the boys bathrooms and does nothing but when in the girls bathrooms he’s always shouting and knocks on the stall door and SLT is always standing outside the bathroom and gives everyone like 5 minutes.
I asked my guidance to write out to all my teachers to say I was struggling and all the teachers still haven’t. My art, home economics, Spanish and science teacher just take the mick with not letting me go to the bathroom and always saying I don’t do work when I do.
They do nothing with bullying and you can’t even go upstairs at break or lunch you just have to stay out in the cold.
I don’t recommend putting your child to this school #cancelmrdewar #cancelmrsmart #cancelmrarbuckle

This school is horrible
Im a pupil at this school , this school is horrible , I asked my teacher multiple times to go to the toilet and I was on my period and he kept telling me no , my English teacher put me at a desk by myself when everyone else has a friend , i cant focus in classes anymore and this school does nothing about mental health , Im literally scared to ask a teacher for help incase i get screamed at , So Im failing most of my classes

this school is nothing more than a place full of harassment and boring excuses for teachers. i complained about a pupil in my classes being interruptive and distracting me from my work and got told to stop butting in. getting constantly compared to other pupils lowers self esteem. the staff simply need to do better . if i had the chance to leave i would x
A disaster
Montrose academy is an absolute horror show the atmosphere there is disgraceful. The kids there do not get any help what so even with mental heath! The head teacher who is a male will sometimes come in the girls toilets and shout to get out and stand there untill he thinks everyone is out and then a female teacher will come in and shout at everyone even if there upset! The school is an utter disgrace and setting the kids up to fail. The teachers have got no respect to students what so even and some teachers are just disgusting! I am so disappointed with the lack of respect coming from teachers and pupls. The school hasn’t had a fresh coat of paint for about 3 years there’s holes in the wall with power coming out of it and dust is everywhere there is also gum stuck everywhere. They have also got a one way system rule it’s a disaster if you don’t follow the one way system you get a message home about not following it!

Montrose academy is horrible it’s such a bad school I do not recommend. You do not get any help for mental health at all. The school is leaking and paint falling off the walls. the school bathrooms the head teacher come into the bathrooms and knock on stalls they have been using screw drivers to unlock cubicles!! Pupils do not get the help and support they need bulling is horrific terrible language used from teachers. pupils get chased around the school in tears. There is no good teachers when I went there all horrible and treat pupils with no respect. the one way system is a joke!!!! Do not send your kids to this school there is creepy teachers. The walls are falling apart and have holes and powder coming from them. The food tastes like crap it tastes horrible I never ate in the canteen because of the food I had plenty of uncooked muffins that had me ill for days the food gave me food poisoning.
It is horrible the male toilets do not get cleaned the pee smells out the whole corridor. You’re not allowed to be in the school building in the mornings. Most of the teachers don’t have a clue and are setting the kids up to FAIL !!!!!

As someone who’s been going here for years and just left years ago. gosh it’s hell. “Respect” mr smart (idiot) says but half of his teachers are so rude for no reason??? They’ve been there for so long yet they haven’t changed and surely they’d be getting complaints right? Apparently not bc mr dumbass will defend the life out them just because they only respect the head, not the students . What’s worse is they can’t handle the bullying problem, one time a girl in my school years younger got bullied that she tried to fight back and wanna know what happened? She got suspended for a month and the bullies only got a talk, A TALK. Out of context Having a second inspection is honestly crazy because at this point this school should just shut down like look at your teachers, look at the pupils who beg to leave this shithole, it’s miserable and unprofessional of the teachers. I know someone that still goes there and they can confirm it’s still the same hellhole

I joined S6 of Montrose Academy in January 2024 after moving up from England. If I knew what this school would’ve been, I think I would’ve taken another year at one of my least favoured schools.
Firstly, I’ll address the title. I had a family bereavement to address in late January which caught me off guard and required me to take a week off to go back south. All of my teachers were fine with this except from one who did not take my absence well, my Spanish teacher.
I was approached when I came back “And why haven’t you done any work while you’ve been gone?” to which I appropriately informed her that I had a bereavement and that unfortunately I had to take extended time off but that she shouldn’t worry as my work and previous exam results from England were proof that I knew what I was examined on in the Spanish language. She instantly hit back with “Well that’s not good enough is it? Probably wasn’t important anyways”
This absolutely broke me. The bereavement was not someone from my extended family, but someone I lived with for the majority of my life and just a few weeks after she passed, I get “She probably wasn’t important”.
To say I was less than pleased is an understatement, I walked myself out of that class and never went back. This caused a small commotion that eventually got two members of SLT involved, both of which sided with the teacher.
From what I was told from my mates, these teachers were known for pretty much gaslighting students when one of their wrongdoings are brought up.
My only advice that if you do go to this academy, do not take a language. Get examined elsewhere. Especially if you want to do French or Spanish as this one teacher teaches both languages.
Other than that, the social science block is incredibly well developed, with mostly helpful staff.

teachers take advantage of their privileges at locking toilets, teachers usually encourage going to the bathroom at break and lunch but then locks the bathrooms at the times they tell you to use them. they tell you to go to the canteen toilets but when i arrive there another teacher says it's an s1 toilet. when i was s1 i did not get that. please sort this out because i have human rights.

At Montrose Academy the head teacher who is male sits outside the school toilet and often goes inside with other female teachers to knock on cubicles when people are doing their business. One time i was changing my sanitary products and i had a member of SLT knock on my cubicle door and shout at me to get out. Some teachers clearly show they do not want to teach and are not eager to educate people. This worries me and other students because we feel like we aren’t getting taught our full potential and feel unsafe in the bathroom.

My experiences at the school is not okay first of all why are all the toilets always locked! and even when the toilets are open only 2 of the cubical doors lock and staff members including a MALE head teacher comes into the GIRLS toilet! this is just totally unacceptable and i’m sure there had been a lot of complaints about this before. my parents are not happy about this and either am i nobody should be denied access toilet when they are in need of it! please fix this . this shouldn’t be happening to children when they willingly come to school to learn and do there best but there being denied access to toilets it doesn’t make the school look very good i hope that this issue can be solved in the future! there was also a hair in the school panini i just wanted to address this situation it’s very unhygienic and disgusting 🤢

American Horror Show Realised
The place was an absolute horror show for the year I was there, between the building falling apart and the rampant bullying and fighting going on, I am actually shocked I learned anything. Don’t send your children here, for they might not learn anything. The food tasted like wet cardboard and air, teachers just didn’t give a damn and drugs all over the place. With how inattentive some of the teachers were, you could probably pull off a full on drug deal in class.
