Alderman Peel High School - Wells-Next-the-sea

Honestly this school is a really good one. Bullying is really low and the teachers make sure of that. Teaching is good and everyone is so friendly. The only thing that’s bad with this school is some of the rules that the students have to follow because some of them are pointless. For example you’re not allowed to have more than one bracelet on at the same time, and at one point, scrunchies were banned, and I don’t even know why. Other than the dress code (uniform) the school is good. And surprisingly, the food isn’t too bad either considering it’s a high school. There’s lots of clubs and groups that students can attend, going anywhere from a sports club to a chess club to a homework help club. You name it, the school probably had a club for it. The school also has its own swimming pool, it’s own gym suite, canteen and hall, a huge field and loads more.
A pastoral team is is part of the members of staff and they really help with the mental health side of things, and any student can go and see them at any time, and they’re there to help.
Something I love about the school is that it’s LGBTQ+ friendly and no student ever feels discriminated because they make everyone feel included, no matter who you are.

Alderman Peel High School is a science and sports academy so the sport side of things is really good. Each year they run a sports award event, along with a Holkham Academic Awards event (which is usually a really formal event where everyone dresses up nicely and goes to the Holkham Halls and goes up on stage for awards and it’s just really fun) and they also run events more to the fun side too, for example - house music day: where each house goes up on stage and sings a song which relates to the chosen theme, and it’s one big competition!! The school runs so many things like that throughout the year.

If you are in a position to go/send your child to this school, it is a big YES from me.
Although it has one or two downsides, it’s one of the best schools I have ever heard of, and it’s known for that.

there's good and bad

teachers play favourites and only seem to like you if you're sporty and academically able, but it's an okay school.

Good school

The teachers are amazing here, couldn't really ask for more from them. Due to be such a small school the sense of community is great, would want to go anywhere else. My only criticism would be the pastoral team, they're not very good at sorting stuff out and play favourites too often which makes them unreliable.

??????

I felt supported, safe and academically challenged. Almost all of the teachers were amazing and the ones who weren’t were moved on quickly. There was a real sense of community and I felt like I belonged there.
