Disgusting attitude from new head

This school is a shambles the rudeness of staff to parents and children is beyond belief. The new head teacher thinks she is running the army . Also discriminate against any child who has any form of learning disability. Shame for the hand full of teachers who clearly come from better schools and want what’s best for kids . The app is abused and only used as a tool to lower children’s self esteem . Head teacher mrs Doherty is nothing less than a power hungry bully . If your child’s struggling with any mental health problems she will use it against them

BAD JUST BAD

Very dissatisfied and disappointing this school just fails at anything no matter the effort you put in for justice for your child it’s a laughing stock they get worse at actually doing there job and you laugh at it then they laugh about your kid and all the kids that come to there pathetic little “support” “pastoral” room I’ve looked around at first glance it seems lovely welcoming and bright so do the staff the posters seem to inspire young minds and seem very helpful and yes that’s also the room where they talk shit about your kids they have nicknames for the worst and naughtiest ones and even brag about putting them in “iso” or detentions and slut shame kids in that room too also making remarks for people who can’t afford uniform or to repair it
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE SHIT SHOW!!

Don’t recommend, very disappointed

It is advertised as a loving supporting and no tolerance for bullying school but the support pastoral team think the responsibility of “sorting something out” is just a quick sorry and hug or a possible statement they embarrass children with stupid talk therapy just to humiliate them later on and don’t even look at sides of story’s all bad reviews on here are the same because there are bullying in every school it’s how they deal with it and here the Teachers are bullies they gossip about students and drag students out of lessons refuse to parents and students normal rights and humiliate and punish students for special needs instead of dealing with stuff professionally my advice is don’t move ur kid here!

VERY POOR AND BAD

The system at place in pastoral seems lovely at first but it’s a trap they tell everyone to “open up” miss a few lessons and write statements or do talk therapy the teachers talk about students and parents behind there backs and have nicknames if u bring ur kid here and they go to the support pastoral they’ll eventually get gossiped about disgusting!!

DO NOT SEND UR KID

My experience is I got bullied and rumours spread about me and my friend instead of teachers helping us and mainly me then blamed me and “said are u really sure”?? They took the other girls side and were sat laughing when I was scared for my security I was threatened by parents and multiple people in that school the head teacher, head of year staff and all pastoral did nothing but sent me to a room to write a statement they don’t even read pupils get away with everything and kids get punished for not having uniform or equipment they might not be able to afford and even if a blazer isn’t “clean”they are forced to buy a brand new one regardless of fiancé issues and people get FINED for borrowing EQUIPMENT!!? they don’t support kids who might not be able to have food and simply embarrass kids and only let them have ONE thing for free in the whole 5 YEARS!??? + food is VERY OVERPRICED teachers have DRAGGED PUPILS BY THE NECK AND SWEARED AT STUDENTS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE DO NOT SEND UR KIDS HERE!!!

Environment at baines

I was bullied and picked on and suffered from many mental health issues through 7 all the way to year 11 the kids are racist and homophobic the teachers don’t care for their jobs nor are they very enthusiastic about what they do. If I’m confused and also for help I’m told “read the question again” we’re often denied help and ignored for everything. Pastoral did nothing but make me feel embarrassed for needing help, there was two teachers that would insult me to other students. Bad behavior, childish teachers I never felt more alone and neglected at baines thank you for 5 years of nothing but tears And feelings of hopelessness

Im a student in Yr9-10

I hate Baines

Ever since year 7 ive wanted to move school due to my classes awful behaviour leaving us nothing learnt in class, the older kids being disrespectful, the stress caused me to self harm quite a lot and the pastoral did nothing but put me in trouble with my parents when i finally opened up as student support told me i should always feel comfortable. However, it just got me in trouble and my parents called me all sorts that wasnt true. i hate pastoral and student support because they arent actually supportive as they should be. If you are quite a normal visitor there, they make you do groups that miss a lesson and force you to tell your problems to the other students that are also there in your year. I remember having to open up to a girl i did not like as she was rude and bratty to me and they knew that. That did nothing but make me get bullied quite a bit and they did nothing to stop it. I hate the school but i now cant leave due to GSCEs. i was planning to but i couldnt get into the school due to no spaces. I wish i chose Hodgeson, it’s definitely a better School for your children. The staff there are more supportive, the students are more respectful. Just an outstanding school afterall.

Review.

not very friendly towards LGBTQ people, and the teachers can be really rude to anyone who is neurologically divergent, and i really struggled feeling confident enough to express myself, since they care more about socks above the knee than people being bullied.

Message for Mrs Chapman

Overall, the school’s average. Some subjects are outstanding and the teachers keep you engaged and entertained, big props to the science department on this one, teachers there are actually very pleasant to be taught by unlike in the English department.. the code of ethics for some teachers in the English classes is flat out appalling but yet students can do nothing about it. I can only talk from my experience and hearing others experiences but I can say hands down that Mrs Chapman should look into this. Various things like the students being ignored if they aren’t doing good enough to even some students feeling the need to transfer classes after feeling centred out by the teacher. From personal experience I was never good at English and the teacher I had, despite it being the primary function of their job, never made any attempt to help me. I had approached them about this on multiple occasions and the help offered was never anything more than mediocre. Now don’t let this discourage you about the school as a whole, this is merely one department and frankly, a select few teachers. Once again, some teachers have a near-perfect teaching style and made my time at Baines great. The school itself, has a variety of enrichment programs and is overall a good place and a good experience. I do however believe that some departments should be “cleansed” in a way. The best way for this in my opinion as a former student is that you should really look into having anonymous online submissions on certain subjects. And make it clear to the students that whatever is said won’t effect them and more often then not things don’t get fixed because the students don’t feel like they have any power to stand up against what most teachers would agree is wrong.
