No I don’t like Barclay
Really Supportive...
As a former student, I can only write from experience. I suffered severely with my mental health whilst I attended the Barclay School. The support I received was fantastic. I was guided for every step of the way, I had regular meetings with the ladies in the flat. The nurse, Kim Hutchinson, was absolutely fantastic, she made sure I was alright and always treated me like a person rather than just a number. I also unfortunately self harmed quite badly on a regular basis and Kim was always there to talk too and help me. The school helped my family to understand why I was feeling the way I did and to help me receive the right support.
If you had a problem or wanted to go the 'flat' to talk to someone, they would also make time for you.
The education side of things I also couldn't fault. The school saw my potential in English lessons and fought for me to get moved up a set. They also actively encouraged taking a language for GCSE however. When I told them that I didn't want too they worked with me to find an alternative solution.
Maths teacher, Ms Sherwin, was also fantastic. She had a way of making maths interesting and making you feel like you're actually good at it. She was great at blocking out all of the kids who didn't want to learn and were just disrupting the lessons, and focussing on those that wanted to succeed. I would NEVER has passed maths without her. She is the best!!
Canteen is very overpriced!! :(
Overall, they really did believe in me and push me to see my potential and I couldn't be anymore grateful!
Unfortunately after I left the school, it became and Academy and although I have no experience attending here since, I have heard some mixed reviews.

The Maggie g situation
My son Maggie g went here and was BLUYED BY A TEACHER because his name on his first day and ever since ALL OF HIS CLASSMATES kept picking on him now he wants me to change his name before his new school it's bonkers this school exists and one day when I was picking him up I saw THERE STUDENTS GIVEING HIM A WEDGIE WHILE HE WAS WHEREING MY NICKERS they did it so hard he passed my brand new panties (im wearing them still a bit warm and wet) sort it out🥰
A very good school
My daughter attends Barclay Academy and is thriving. The school has high expectations in both education and behaviour. My daughter has friends, enjoys the extra-curricular clubs and receives a good standard of education. The recently graded 'good' from Ofsted, with several 'outstanding' areas was well deserved. Parent's are kept updated regularly about school life. Teachers can be strict, but they are fair and children that behave are acknowledged. Definitely now one of the better schools in Stevenage!

Great school. The work is hard but the teachers help us to make it easier. I am proud of my school and of me for what I learn there. I do 5 different clubs and am always going on trips. I was bullied once but my head of year dealt with it and it didn't happen again. I feel safe and like they care about me. Canteen prices should be lower though
Good school
A really great school. My daughter takes part in a lot of clubs after school which she enjoys. Any issues are dealt with by heads of year really quickly.

i think Barclay is an outstanding school. I love it a lot and all the teachers treat us like adults and not like children. It’s the best :)
