A levels

Don’t go to Barton Peveril

I wouldn’t recommend Barton Peveril to anyone! I found it to be an extremely unsupportive environment, my teachers saw I was struggling not just with the actual work but mentally too. They didn’t care to do anything about it, I opened up about how I was feeling and instead of support I was told by my ‘SPA’ “you’re just going to have to get over it aren’t you”. I was told by all of my teachers I would fail my A levels and not get into university, no thanks to them I successfully got BB in my A levels and got into my first choice university. I was essentially forced to drop an A-level as I was told there was “no point me even taking it” ONE week before my exams!!!. By this point I wasn’t even surprised by this behaviour I had come to expect it. To add to the shocking lack of empathy and support, an extremely close member of my family had passed away a few months before exams season. Due to this I was off for a week grieving , when I came back despite them all knowing only one teacher has asked me how I was doing… The rest emailed me constantly all week stating I was falling too far behind and missing so much work that I wouldn’t pass my exams, at that point I didn’t care. Even with staff having knowledge about my mental health, I was forced to take up additional subjects such as GCSE maths, despite me constantly saying I don’t need it to get into my university course and it was adding unescessary stress that I didn’t need, I watched 5 other people be aloud to drop the subject but me, the staff have different rules for everyone! I could go on and on about multiple bad experiences I had, making my time at Barton the lowest two years of my life. This of course wouldn’t be the same experience for everyone, but if it can happen to me it could happen to others.

Amazing

Overall, this school has a very modern, beautiful and welcoming environment. The teachers are down to earth amd don't think highly of themselves. The content is great amd they help develop your independent skills. The school has a good structure in the sense of lessons amd overall all systems.
