The support for mental health is awful

Yeah get your child to go here if you want them to be completely mentally drained with little to no support. Your kid has anxiety? Well don't you worry beacon has you covered! They'll get someone who isn't even apart of the mental health staff to aid your child by pressuring them to go to assemblies and classes without any understandings of the cause or how to help their anxiety. Pretty much if your child isn't a year 7 their problems get servery overlooked. I was a former student here with a lot of mental health struggles and autism which made school hard for me, the mental health staff was meant to support me but instead I stopped going due to it causing more problems than stopping them. The way I was spoken to made it feel as though I was causing a problem for them due to me wanting to change classes because of bullying. However the time where it was most apparent that the "mental health staff" doesn't actually care about a students problems was when an issue regarding me and another student which in the past has lead to severe panic attacks, mental breakdowns over 2 years of bullying and shaming which I spilled my heart to when talking to one of the mental health staff, who persisted I confront this individual inperson which was the last thing I ever wanted to do. After having to agree on it based on them not being willing to help if not, they reffered to the situation as "primary school drama" to another adult with them. This phrase has stuck with me ever since and was what caused me to finally realise how pointless it is to try and get any kind of support from there. Even if a students issue may appear that way you should never belittle a problem to that extent. Even if the problem appears to be dumb it doesn't matter if its having so much of an effect on someone. The audacity to say this right next to me when I just spilled my heart out on the verge of tears was insane. There's so much more I can say, like with how bullying as a whole is barley ever acknowledged, how words are taken less seriously due to being a student, how if you're in a lower set you're given less professional teachers interms of being able to teach and shut the class up due to assuming you dont care about your education by being in a lower set. But I simply cannot put 5 mentally exhausting years into one paragraph. There are some good aspects like some areas of support interms of education, like catch up sessions after class and revision help. But as a whole beacon academy is a school I have very few kind words to say about and having left and being at my new college just shows me how many things beacon should've done to help their students, interms of disabilities, mental health ect. I couldn't have been happier to have left and my mental health has improved vastly because of it.

Absolutely horrible

The bullying at this school is very bad and my poor little baby girl is suffering every day. This is unexpectable and I will not let this continue. The teachers in this school don’t care about the students one bit and their mental health all they care about is the school’s reputation. In my eyes I think there should be a talk to the school pupils and members of staff as this is serious matter. Please get this fixed as I feel so bad for my sweet baby girl, she’s having such a tough time at this school and I’ve had enough. Thank you for your time.

the school cares about the reputation of the students more than the students, students here are very racist to expect some rude language and death threats when you visit this school, its bad

DISGUSTING CLASSISTS

The only thing they hold anyone accountable for is uniform, I was beaten half to death and they told me they’d sort it, they didn’t and they never sort it. It was in school too and the kids got away with it easy.
When I was crying in the student support their response was “take your nose stud out”
DISGUSTING SCHOOL
Classist teachers and they will confiscate everything they can and sell it. Don’t go there

reputation > students

they care more about how the school looks and the reputation than the wellbeing of their students. they won't bother to help one struggling student if the school as a whole is doing well - some teachers are the exception to this. essentially, if you don't get good grades dont expect to be treated well here

Okay

decent school, some teachers treat students with respect others treat them like 2nd class citizens, mostly they care about the appearance of students and school more than the education
