VERY BAD SCHOOL. AVOID!

This school is DREADFUL!

The school's ability to manage the behaviour of students is appalling- teachers/ staff do nothing about the unacceptable behaviour that goes on in the school and the harassment experienced by pupils from other students. The poor behaviour has got to the point where students are feeling unsafe to get changed in the PE changing rooms due to kids throwing things around and the constant use of Snapchat to send photos of people to others without their permission. The issue of students using mobile phones inappropriately is one which has grown a lot recently but still seems to go unseen. Form rooms at lunchtime (which are meant to be a place where students can chat with friends at lunch) are utter chaos - pushing and grabbing (sometimes in inappropriate places) and still nothing is done to manage this.

The door into the toilets is CHAINED open to try and manage the misbehaviour that goes on in there, but still this does not work. Kids have found ways to unlock the cubicle doors and can be seen to be peering over the top of the door. This makes a basic right such as going to the toilet feel unsafe as there is the constant fear that the toilet door will open, exposing you to anyone walking past in the corridor.

Every open day/ evening, the school puts on a fake act, brainwashing unsuspecting people into coming to this school, covering over what really goes on.

Ofsted correctly pointed out the flaws of the school and the school had the audacity to claim Ofsted had come with a "pre-arranged agenda", even get the support of a local MP (whose child attends the school) to complain formally about it.

Lessons are dry and boring with the majority of work being textbook based. Teachers do not always treat students with the most respect, acting inappropriately and unprofessionally. One teacher was known to have stuck their fingers up at a student, whilst another was hiding rude words in the children's coursework as well as signing them up for online newsletters using the student's email (data protection??).

Teachers rarely mark work, instead most work is either marked by the students themselves or their peers. The only feedback received from teachers is from assessments. Even these are not utilised effectively to help the children. The school also only cares about the grade 9 students, unless you are in danger of failing your exams all together, they will do little to nothing to help you. There is also very limited GSCE subject choice.

Since the new change in the leadership team, the school feels like different place. The school used to be nice but now it feels that it is just a stressful and uncomfortable place to be.

I honestly wish I went somewhere else.

The truth about bishop stopford school

This school provides a poor experience for any child, let alone a queer, neurodiverse trans kid. I could give so many flaws of this school, major tests on the first day back at school, insufficient pastoral system, lack of empathy for the children. I was bullied for over a year, and the school knew. I was verbally and physically abused. My work was hidden in class when I didn't have stuff thrown at my head. The teachers knew and sarcastically asked what I wanted them to say. I left in floods of tears. after a year or so the bullies were given 'an extra pshe lesson'. I'm appalled and never would have gone here. They have so little regard for the wellbeing of children that extensions are not given out, feedback is impersonal and unhelpful and you are nothing without good grades. They do not deserve outstanding and certainly do not deserve your child.

Avoid teaching here. Go anywhere else!

Think twice if you want to work here because it won’t matter the hours and dedication that you put in and continually show. **** ***** **** ******,***** ******* ********** **** ******* **** ******** ** ******** ************* ******* ** **** **** **** **** ****** **** **** *** **** ***** ***** *** **** **** ****** ********* *** *******

Unprofessional, pretentious and a megalomaniac top leader that has lost their ‘Christian ways’ and follows the semi-new leader in axing long-standing teachers from the profession.

…And students wonder why the teachers go missing? It’s because they have to leave as they are threatened with capability and disciplinary measures after years of dedication and commitment to the students and the school. It’s bullying at its finest!

Kids are lovely to teach as they are everywhere but there is no clarity on behaviour anymore and there isn’t a clear system so low-level disruption ruins many lessons. It’s amazing that anyone learns a thing these days at this school.

Ofsted may rate it as outstanding but any staff with substance or the slightest sense about them will recognise that it’s all a farce.

One clever ETC teacher said this year, 2022, that they would rather return to working in a warehouse before agreeing to work another year in this school.
They left having filed a grievance like many other staff might think to do, but are too scared to do in this ostrich-head-down culture which keeps even the very best in check.

A disgusting place to work is an understatement. They are living on a reputation of long ago and certainly not of the present day. …Outstanding only in their intent to bully and get rid of quality staff!

School

It’s good except for one thing

It’s great.
The teachers are on the most part nice and friendly.
The classes are well taught.
But the anti-bullying is awful.
There is no anonymity and the perp gets away with it almost Scott free
