shithole, staff let the juniors behave like animals. never been happier than the day i left.

The school does not give proper accommodations for people like me. I failed an entire class because of their negligence. The only thing good was the fish and chips (which they stop selling) The school councillor forgot about me. Occasionally good teachers but most of the time they are the most child-hating mean people ever. Did nothing when i was bullied for literally just existing as an autistic person.

The only reason people tink its a good school is because the people leaving it get good grades, and to be fair there are good teachers who do seem to care about your education. But that’s overshadowed by the fact that the management seems to think that the school is a great place despite the fact the juniors scream like children in the hallways and the teachers are so desensitised they dont do anything about it and when they had a problem with students skipping classes in the bathrooms instead of considering why their classes were so miserable people would rather vape in a toilet than be in them, they made a register for people going to the toilet and eventually just stopped letting people use the bathroom during class at all, there are also massive discrimination problems that the school seems to think can be solved by an assembly as well as a police officer thats happy to scream at students at the drop of a hat. In multiple assemblies teachers have had to tell HIGH SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS to open doors with their hands, that is the type of people you can expect at braes high school.

Went to Braes High with high expectations for a good education, great teachers and excited to make lots of friends but quickly realised it was nothing of the sorts. The teachers don’t care for the students well-being. Passing your classes? Take a walk outside. Failing any classes? No problem! They’ll just send you to the schools unlicensed counsellor who doesn’t even care anyways. Another thing is the discrimination. There is a shocking amount of racism happening in the school. Although they pretend to actually do anything about it, nothing happens. One of the guidance teachers refused that they didn’t do anything about it when a non-white person told her that racism was an issue. Walking through the corridor and I guarantee you you’d hear the n-word multiple times, even more suspicious that there are very few ethnic minorities in the school. I can count three people in my year that aren’t white. Not to mention the privacy invasions. Forcing children to get changed after swimming when there are no cubicles to actually change in is unacceptable, especially considering Braes is the only school in the area that doesn’t have them. Someone could tell me that half the teachers in the school weren’t trained and I’d believe them, considering how bad they are at teaching. The home economics department is in debt, they have to pay for their own supplies to give to the children, so you’d think the school would actually help them yeah? No. How about they spend their money of Apples TVs for the teachers? Great idea! Another thing is iPad management. Getting screamed at for my iPad having 29% is genuinely insane. Another problem is vaping and drinking. The amount of times the fire alarm has been set off due to students vaping in the toilets is absurd. I’ve seen students vaping in toilets, corridors, under stairs, at the cabin and even in classrooms! An additional cause of the school being a mess is the equipment. There are currently at least 5 literal doors missing. There are around nine different cubicles in the toilets for boys and girls compared to the neighbouring schools who have 20+. I remember a few months ago there was only one cubicle that worked. The rest were either missing doors, the lock was broken, blocked or even when a toilet went missing? I don’t even know how that happened. It’s gotten so bad that I don’t even use them anymore, if I need to go I hold it until I get home. If you have the choice to go somewhere else then please do.
