Don’t send your children here

If your child is academically gifted then the school will love them. However if your child is anxious, in need of extra support or has special needs they will not be looked after. If your child is ill their app will advise you to keep them off until better then they will send rude threatening emails saying your child’s attendance is unacceptable. They may be oversubscribed at the beginning of a new term but many students end up leaving. Dreadful school.

Do not send your child here in ANY circumstances

In the 5 years I was in this school it was just getting worse every year, the building is rapidly falling apart, there is no soap in the toilets after the devious lick trend on TikTok a few years ago just to mention that the soap dispensers weren't stolen as a result of this trend but they were infact removed by the caretakers and never put back, the toilets are barely even clean to go along with that, they don't care about student mental health (they claim to but often just make it worse) and just keep pressuring you to work and work more towards your gcse which lead to me in the hospital after an OD attempt and missing almost 2 years of education, if you are feeling ill but you haven't thrown up they will not send your home in any circumstance.
The quality of the education is pretty dire too despite them bribing the fact they were nominated (they didnt win it!!) to school of the year in the area (that's not very hard!!)
The uniform is also a huge issue
In CCR, the girls have stupidly long skirts that often leads to them tripping up/falling over things because it pretty much goes to the floor just so the creepy male teachers and principal aren't distracted. Does that not lead into more serious concerns? This further leads onto the PE kit being the complete opposite which is a great concern considering the pe teachers are pretty creepy and gross. The skort is so short and the top doesn't even have a button? What kind of stuff is this? and the boys uniform is pretty bad too, in the summer they aren't allowed to wear shorts and the school buildings get really hot which means they are sweating for the whole day and really uncomfortable which distracts learning obviously, they also got us to buy hoodies in the covid pandemic for when we had to have the windows open even in the winter and it was very cold yet however we weren't allowed to wear these ever again since the windows got shut, it was such a massive waste of money for so many parents.

Cover teachers is my next subject
In CCR the cover teachers are really bad apart from a select two which i can't name 😉. When the main teacher isn't there the communication between the cover and the actual teacher is shockingly poor and never really get any proper work however the biggest complaint is how rude and moody most of the cover teachers are which leads to students not having the motivation or being unfairly punished because the teacher was having a bad day.

Student health and hygiene
In the last year of school I was placed in a seating plan with a certain student who had no hygiene or very little of it which lead to me getting sick a lot of the time and I was not allowed to move after asking multiple times. It was year 11 which is obviously a cruical year for my education and I had to sit next to a student who flicked a chain around covered in his spit and never cleaned his nails I mean really? My final point is that a lot of students were really toxic and maybe struggling with mental health problems of their own yet nothing was done about this?
Please don't send your child here. I beg you for the quality of their education, mental/general health.

never send your kids here. please

this place is one of the worst schools to be honest. its never really properly cleaned (especially not changing rooms or toilets) , its an extremely toxic environment especially with some of the teachers. the uniform is another massive issue especially for the girls, the long skirts are super impractical for everything (walking up stairs, they get caught on chairs and doors ect.). but most of that isnt even a problem because the reason for having the skirts that long is “so that no male students or TEACHERS get distracted”. that was the response i got from a teacher when i asked why they were so long. but the pe skorts are designed to be tiny and we were yelled at for having our skorts too short, even though they were the size that fit us waist wise. the uniform issue also stretches to boys as they aren’t allowed shorts in the summer. the principal is also extremely creepy and aggravating as he spends most of his break and lunch time’s walking in and out of the boys toilets, he also refuses to speak to fathers alone when in meetings and will only have solo meetings with mothers as he feels theyre easier to control. student services is another absolute joke as they never deal with issues in a good way.also theyve removed the doors leading into the toilets and have cameras facing into them. this school is altogether just a massive issue please never send your kids here.

DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS THERE

Absolute madness going on at that school. Since Gemma Bentley took over as assistant principal it has been a nightmare. My mental health had reached an all time low while I was there and I was in hospital because of it. Since I have been expelled from casterton I can confidently say I have never been happier. I don’t always feel like I am on edge with constant unnecessary trouble from teachers at that school. It also affected my home life horrendously. Because not only did it affect my mental health but also my mothers. Constantly dealing with ridiculous emails and phone calls and worrying about what the school would do next and what would happen to me couldn’t of been nice for her. I can’t stress enough how happy I am to be out of there. So if you have any sort of sense do not send your kids there.

Avoid Casterton College all all cost

Avoid this school like the plague. The ethos of the head teacher is to govern with fear. It skews the data to make it look like they out perform the other local schools.

Children are very unhappy, bullying is at an all time high, and they have no care for the children's wellbeing. The real issue of this school is that the toxic culture is coming from the Head Mr Smith.

Strict is not always best.

I'm giving it a poor rating because of how the school is run which is directly related to the head teacher whose sole focus is to achieve school awards, which is no bad thing but he does this at the expense of the students wellbeing.
Statistics are skewed to show how wonderful the school is but in reality, it's an average school with below average attitude from the teachers. They will punish children for the slightest thing and believe fear will make them work. There is no balance, just rules and punishments. Don't even get me started on Covid... a personal agenda is set here and chidlren are bullied to wear masks, even if they say they are exempt.
Perhaps this method works but if it leaves the students in fear of attending then I don't think it's a good method.
These are my personal opinions only and not stated as fact.

It was average

This school was good when I first went to it in year seven but as I went through the years most students were almost forgotten about unless they were grade A students or badly behaved ones. I was also treated quite badly by some staff members over the years.
