Great environment for pupils

I've only been there a few times, but my experience around staff team and pupils was great. Spacious study rooms as well.

don’t go to charlton school!

rating charlton a 1 star out of 5 is a push there should’ve been a 0 star option. Honestly charlton is the worst school ive ever been to. throughout my 5 years at charlton I’ve dealt with many different issues with students and staff and the staff have done absolutely nothing to help me with them, teachers get involved with drama and continue to spread around rumours about other students even when they are called up on it. the teachers have lied to my face and to my parents about how they’ve dealt with these issues when they know full well that they’ve done nothing to help me. Miss millar is the worst pastoral manager out of the lot and she is not capable of doing the job, she gets involved with drama and makes minor issues into big things. Miss millar was told a rumour about me which I spoke to her privately and explained the backstory of it all and she continued to spread this rumour to other members of staff and to the students in my year. The school as a whole care more about what we look like (hair colour, jewellery, etc) more than they care about our mental health. Mrs Byrne told me at the start of year 11 that I couldn’t wear the school trousers I was wearing because they showed my thighs too much and I tried to explain to her that it’s the only pair I can find in my size and they were £40 and her response was disgusting, she told me that I can’t use my weight as an excuse because there are also other fat girls in the school and it’s not an issue for them! Hearing a teacher body shame me really hurt, I already heard stuff like that enough from students and then hearing a member of staff say that to a 15 year old was appalling!! Miss millar recently told me that I’m a child and I can’t struggle with my own issues as I don’t know what it’s like to struggle and I have an easy life and she told me that anything bad that’s happened to me in my life I deserved it all and I ask for bad things to happen to me. School think all issues revolve around group chats on social media and blame every issue on group chats, miss millar would blame me for incidents that happened between other students even when they had absolutely nothing to do with me, meaning I would get into trouble for absolutely no reason at all! Miss millar is supposed to help students when they are struggling but instead she told me that I make my anxiety ruin everything for me and complained daily about the type of person I am. Im not the type of student who misbehaves, I get on with my day at school and stick to myself in lessons but she constantly dragged me into unnecessary drama distracting me from my education! Though out my 5 years at charlton I’ve spent more time speaking to miss millar and miss Byrne about issues that are completely irrelevant than I have in my lessons learning to help me pass my exams. as my GCSEs were coming closer my mental health was declining even more and I refused to go to school for months due to how the school as a whole made me feel and current situations that was constantly happening: school didn’t even check up on me or do anything to help me come back for 4 months. A week before my exams started multiple teachers made up lies about how I’ve refused to listen to there help knowing they’ve done nothing to help me. When I started charlton school in year 7 I was expected grades 8 and 9 in all subjects, I had so much potential and now in year 11 my GCSEs start In 4 days and I’m hardly even expecting to pass my subjects due to the lack of support the staff have offered me (educational support and mental support) i do not recommend sending your child to charlton school for many reasons. I strongly believe that if I didn’t go to charlton I would have a much better future ahead of me! My exams begin in 4 days and I have no plan for my next journey when I leave charlton school due to the lack of support and opportunities the school have allowed me to have. I always dreamed of going to university and continuing with education after high school ended and my experience at charlton has put me of that dream and I’m not even going to college anymore! Please don’t send you child to charlton school I don’t recommend it at all!

no support mentally

if i could give this school 0 stars, I would. I went to charlton school for 5 years straight and i can confidently say i got no support. The most they ever did was put me in school therapy but kicked me out after a couple weeks because my problems “weren’t important” compared to other peoples on the waiting list. Due to the teachers never taking me seriously my mental health and grades declined massively. If the teachers would of listened to me i would of done better in exams but i failed majority of them because of the lack of support. You only get support at this school if you misbehave. Exams can be redone; a person can’t. If things would of been done differently when i was at school i probably would of succeeded a lot more. DO NOT EVER send your child here.

Not bad but still sucks

Overall decent in terms of getting good grades if you try, but horrible with mental health support and handling bullying

Charlton

I go there,nd I'm gonna be real, this school doesn't care about your child's mental health, keep telling them to be better which just applies pressure, sends children home because they don't have the appropriate kit, they don't care if you don't have enough money for certain things and just overall overprice everything,if I'm not mistaken a calculator there is for £10 or £6 which is just insane, extremely racist and racist staff, lots of pedophiles

Hated it

Terrible if your child has mental health issues i went there for years and they couldn’t pick up that i even had autism. They’d say they’d accommodate and then never actually would. They’re also extremely lenient on bullying and bribery from students parents

Bad school

very bad school, doesn’t handle racism or bullying well and all teachers are horrific and treat students like prison inmates. In my opinion Charlton is somewhere you would send you children if you want them to be destroyed.

Shouldn't even be called a school

First of all I want to say that I came to Charlton in year 7 so I know how it was before and how it has become. This school is extremely racist, homophobic and has respect 0 for its pupils. There has been a friend of mine that was going through depression and self harm because of bullying and racism, she has reported it so many times, then gave up because the teachers were not doing anything about it, and the students weren't enough educated about the topics above. The school meals are so overpriced, a slice of pizza is £1.80 (so just imagine the other prices). I am not happy of this school, so I recently moved. This school is BAD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH SO I DO NOT RECCOMEND IT TO ANYONE READING THIS. I suffered a lot personally, especially from year 9 on, where me too, with my friend, started having issues and faced it alone with only depression that inevitably made our grades decrease. The PE teachers LOOK AT YOUR BUM WHEN WAKING, AND PERSONALLY I AM DISGUSTED. I HAVE BEEN BULLIED AND WHEN PEOPLE NOTICED, THEY STILL DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME OR TO PUNISH THE BULLIES, (everyone was mentally harassing me) so I'm glad I left this ZOO. DON'T GO CHARLTON IF YOU THINK YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY IN A HAPPY PLACE.

Disrespectful

I get c1's and c2's just because i proof the teachers wrong or because other people distract me. And i've been sent to the BRR for defending myself which resolved in me beating someone up. It's unfair, most of the teachers are A**holes and the only reason im still learnimg there is because of my friends.

embarrassing

This school has no respect for their students what so ever. Their students are treated like prison inmates and their staff is uneducated about issues going on in the world. They are extremely classist expecting all students to be able to afford their extremely overpriced school hoodie. So it being they either buy a school hoodie or freeze to death during the winter. They don't deal with racism or bullying in anyway, the teachers don't care even if it happening right in front of them. If you want your kids to suffer and for their mental health to be destroyed then send your kids to this excuse of a good school. embarrassing now they are forcing all students to take up a WHOLE 1 hour lesson EVERY SINGLE day just to read whilst some students have their mocks this year and should be focusing on their lessons. Their food is also extremely over priced causing some students to have to go the entire school day with eating anything because bringing your own lunch can cause you to be bullied.

Awful

Not good at all, you suffer in silence and nobody helps with your well-being. You are called dramatic when you try to reach out for help. There are racist attacks and bullying. Do not recommend

Embarrassing

I hate this school. We were recently on the news for a racist student and they still havent done enough. We have also had over 20 cases of covid 19 and they still havent closed the school down or made restrictions more severe. The bullying is horrible and nobody likes to talk to the teachers cause they never listen. And many more.

I'm embarrassed to be apart of Charlton school

Charlton school

They have split up the canteen making everyone even more cramped and next to each other. all years mix at some point of the day without any covid restrictions applied causing multiple rises in cases in the school.
