How bad dinnington is

I think this school is pathetic. My daughter in Y9 attends the school and I think it's shocking. Staff do not help or assist the children and make them feel upset in a place they are meant to learn. I do not recommend this place. They don't let children express themselves in any way shape or form. They allow makeup but ban lashes but aren't lashes apart of makeup.... They have no concerns for the children and safe guarding is some full on bulls**t. The man who is meant to be the behaviour leader does a crappy job. As long as his pay check is coming neat, he doesn't give a toss about your child. My daughter has raised multiple concerns about problems in school to him and instead of helping, he looks the other way and pretends he heard absolutely nothing. They have so much pride yet do a lousy job at their work. My daughters year leader treats her with disrespect, I have heard it myself when my daughter was secretly on the phone to me. Mr Elliot if you really hate the children at your job, then don't work here. None's forcing you to stay. He yells at a lot of children for fun and when children try to tell him they can't do a detention, he laughs in their face and tells them they have to or he will suspend. Funny thing is, he isn't that powerful. The receptionist is very rude, if you try asking her a question she will roll her eyes and ignore you. She is very disrespectful and only acts nicely around members of the senior leadership team. Honestly if i could, i would move my child to Wales. Please parents don't be fooled. Keep your children far away from Dinnington Highschool. Its not worth your time.

Average

Overall accepting of sexualities, gender expression, race etc. However bullying not handled well and no real expressed understanding or concern for mental health issues. Children suffer in silence and school says they care but show no real concern, or help. Take things too seriously and others not seriously enough, only a few genuinely supportive teachers.

Worrying

I was bullied in my younger years which wasn’t dealt with very effectively, the school claims to be big on supporting mental health but is very ineffective when it comes to it. There is only one school counsellor and most of the teachers aren’t understanding unless they themselves have dealt with mental health issues. It takes a lot to get the help you need and the school cares more about the grades you produce than your physical and mental well-being.

It’s okay but not safe

Been bullied from year 7 and the school basically does nothing. When students rely on one teacher they try to take that teacher away. The actually learning is okay but school life isn’t safe there’s fights every day and you see the police around school more than the teachers
