GREAT -1000000000 PERCENT RECOMMEND

This school is absolutely unreasonable. I was accused of something and I got an HOUR detention.. AN HOUR AFTER SCHOOL. This Is a really valid point. I ALSO GOT A DETENTION FOR AND I QUOTE "ROLLING MY EYES" YET. I WAS JUST. TURNING AROUND. my form tutor is the only thing that keeps me sane + keep my morals and ily JOIN IF YOU WANT TO GET TORTURED!!!

horrid place

bad discrimination from pupils+ horrible social culture. transphobia is super common. as a trans person myself going here is horrible. theres so much bullying in general that staff overlook or pretend to care about but do nothing to sanction the students involved. it's super hard to go against the norm here and if you do you're likely to end up miserable.
the actual education is decent but it's not worth it because you can't really pick what you want to do. you only get 2 choices for GCSE and there's very few courses that are practical and that students want to do.
many good, caring and understanding teachers have left recently and alot of strict+ less passionate ones have stayed, making attending very unenjoyable for everyone. in addition, alot of the staff ignore issues and don't help with mental health. the heads of year are incredibly guilty of this especially.
the actual grounds are tiny. the corridors are cramped and we have very little space overall. it's hard to even move sometimes, especially in the humanities corridor. also loads of classrooms have had to add tables to fit extra pupils. theres also a ton of water leaks here so alot of the tables in the canteen end up blocked off+ lots of the ceiling tiles look gross. theres very few resources here for students interested in the arts aswell, especially considering ef is a music specialised school. all focus seems to be on the sports kids, who all the teachers favourite+ prioritise.
we aren't allowed phones here. it sucks. it means we can't communicate with our parents+ we have no pictures of any of our time here/ any memories.
food here is alright but it needs some seasoning I swear it's so blanddd. also it's overpriced as hell especially at break time.
students are so overworked as well our school days are so long. yet we are still expected to do wider learning commitments and 1-2+ hours of homework every night.
so yea don't come here/ send ur kids here unless u want them to end up being mentally ill because it's so bad and draining here.

awful school

Awful work ethic and they push way to hard on grades, making you give up your life and saddling many with complex mental health issues. Teachers are useless when it comes to bullying and their bullying policy is a joke, with no repercussions for those in the wrong. Also constant psche lessons that had no real meaning and never focused on different topics like mental health. In stead over the 4 years I was there we did the same psche lessons at least 5 times. Ridiculous and the Twyford trust is a joke

grades over everything else

The school has brilliant students who are all friendly and kind and generally all around accepting of other cultures faiths and sexualities however, the issue is with the school its self, teachers tend to refuse to listen to students and their issues, I have attended a class where a student was reprimanded for fixing her hijab (this was a religious education class which makes what happened and even bigger issue) there has been a teacher openly humiliate students by leaving "feedback" where she called students lazy and complained another student was "too anxious" on a board for their entire class to see, rules are ridiculously strict and another student I know was given a detention for not having a spare whiteboard pen on him even though it was confirmed his pen ran out in another class, it pushes students further then they would expect to go sacrificing mental health for good grades, so in summary if you want to do well in school at any cost this is the school for you.

If you value your mental health, look elsewhere

The quality of the education itself is good. The teaching staff is young and enthusiastic and care about the student's performance. The underlying issue however is the intense and unfair pressure placed on students.

The school day is 8:50 - 4pm however most students will have either an intervention or stay after school to do a pile of homework (15-30 mins of homework are given per lesson every day, with 7 lessons in a day). For many the school day is more like 8am-5pm.

On top of this, rules are often times unfair and not up for discussion. 30 minute detentions for being 30 seconds late;15 mins for missing a piece of equipment as trivial as a pencil or pen; 15 for talking in hallways and 60 if you argue with your punishment. This all compounds to create a vicious cycle for many where mistakes are made due to high pressure, creating an even more toxic environment and degrading student/teacher relations.

As a result, stress related breakdowns are common in the school day. Students can frequently be heard crying during breaks and many students have developed stress and anxiety related disorders.

If you are willing to sacrifice your mental well-being and happiness please feel free to attend the school.
