Epsom and Ewell High School

My son attends this school. I moved him here from another school in Sutton because the Sutton school was having a detrimental effect on his wellbeing. My son has SEN and the previous school was not upholding the terms of his EHCP or consistently providing the kind of support it stated he should receive. I chose Epsom and Ewell High School because I was impressed by their SEN team and the school had come recommended to me by other parents whose children have similar needs to my son.

I have not regretted the move. This school prides itself on inclusivity and as such, has been extremely supportive to my son. He is thriving there and this is reflected in both his academic performance and his attitude towards school. The teachers (for the most part) treat the children with dignity and personally model the kind of behaviour that they expect of their students. The staff take the time to properly understand each child they are in contact with, which is in direct contrast to our experience at his previous school. On the few occasions where there has been an issue with an individual teacher, this has always been resolved via effective communication between the teacher and my son. My son has benefited greatly from this style of conflict resolution because it’s both respectful and models the kind of communication skills required to function effectively in the real world. Again, this is in direct contrast to his previous school, where the culture was that the teachers are always right and the student has no right to speak for themselves. The school is not perfect because no school is, but i can honestly says that it has been amazing for my child.

There has been a lot of drama, school takes a while to sort it but definitely does sort it by the end.

Its a good school its normal. They help with bullying sometimes and will your well-being . Its a fun place to go.

Right some of the teachers are legends, however the way the school deal with issues are ridiculous. Especially with the more "loud" kids. If you make a joke that someone don't like there are chances you're getting excluded for a week. Expect to be treated like idiots if you're in Ap classes. My mate wasn't mistreated but they took the mick with some of his punishments. Also just a warning the more senior teachers all have a stick up their **** and always blow things out of proportion because that's the only joy they get. However the geography and science department are a laugh. My two favourite departments, especially my physics and geo teacher. Absolute legends the both of them.
