Golborne High School has been a fantastic experience for my child. The staff are not only professional but also genuinely caring, creating a supportive and welcoming environment where students feel valued. Communication with parents is clear and consistent, and any concerns are addressed quickly and thoughtfully. The school promotes high standards in both learning and behaviour, while also offering great opportunities outside the classroom, from enrichment activities to trips and clubs that encourage confidence and personal growth. What I appreciate most is the school’s commitment to every student’s wellbeing and future success. Teachers go the extra mile to make sure pupils reach their potential, and the pastoral team provides excellent support when needed. Overall, Golborne High School is a place where students are encouraged to thrive academically and personally. I feel reassured knowing my child is part of such a positive and forward-thinking school community.

Doesn’t even deserve to be graded a 1. Thinking of sending your child here for the “perfect luxury” high school experience as it is rated the best in the wigan area. DONT. 1. I have a chronic illness that i need to be allowed access to a toilet for 24/7… that’s not good enough to them though. I get shouted at for taking “too long” in there which causes teachers to not let me go as they think i’m using the toilet to skip lesson in. Their rule is that you can not go to the toilet for the first 15 minutes of a lesson and you are only able to go every 2 hours, if you don’t have a “medical” reason to use the toilet, simple as you can’t go in?. 2. This school allows bullying, as much as they can sit there and say “they are dealing with it and will look into it” they’re lying. For me and 2 others to be consecutively picked on by the same person for nearly 2 years, i finally decided to deal with it myself and it’s me who gains all the blame since i reacted in a physical matter. And was later then told i couldn’t be in the school anymore as i was “a danger to others and myself and they don’t know if i can be safe”… none of this would have happened if you wasn’t so braindead and treated everyone equally and told this person to STOP. 3. 1 year ago i had an ongoing police case with another pupil in the school. the police had set up a safety plan for me in school which they decided never to follow. this person was always skipping lessons so therefore he would be on the same break and dinner as me, i reported it and what did i get told. “we will look into it”. this caused my attendance to be really low as i purely didn’t feel safe there and every time i went into pastoral or iclass i got screamed at and told to get out and go to lesson. He got removed from the school but later had to come back for his GCSE’s, an senior leadership member told me that she would make me fully aware and prepared for when he had to return, and did she? ?no. leading me to have a panick attack and in a state for near enough 2 hours and getting shouted at because i got my nan to come and collect me to take me home, they refused to let me go. 4. You will not be allowed any type of help from the school unless you are “a SEND issue”, knowing full well how long it takes for someone to get a diagnosis it should not make me irrelevant nor anybody else. you ask to go to pastoral and they lie (as i catch them out every time) saying that the person you are willing to speak to is “busy” or “not here” or “in a meeting”, i understand that some people have actual jobs to do and may be busy at times but it doesn’t excuse you to turn me away whilst students are in a state. 5. Not even to mention the poverty food you get given. Fathers as if it is WW2 rations. sometimes it is half decent food but there are many people that have taken pictures of the food they received and complained. Overall the 5 years i spent here was just shambles. My mum had contemplated pulling me out in year 9 but never proceeded with it as the school decided to come up with “solutions” (bribing me to stay there). All they really care about is perfect attendance and good grades and no one can convince me otherwise, you are refused to go home unless a teacher has physically seen you be sick and one time when i was actually sick and unwell a staff member told me how “i look like ive lost a lot of weight” and “im the only person she has met who is sick so often”… trying to accuse me of starving myself simply because i told her i was sick and unwell and wanted to go home. they only ever send you home if you have good enough attendance otherwise you have no chance.

in my opinion don’t send your kids here, staff are extremely horrible; each and every one of them should not be working in a school , they lock toilets and never let you go the toilet it gets to the point where kids are wetting themselves. If you are sick they don’t let you go home one child was sick 3 times and they stunk like sick and thrown up moldy food

Year 9 bullying is rife teacher's tend to look the other way my daughter is in tears most days but is frightened by peer pressure to report the people responsible mock exams will be taking place soon I'm so worried that she will not do well because of bullying.

Recently heard how 5 student jumped on and beat up 1 student for identifying has lesbian. Gangs and bullying is going unpunished.

this school is terrible. all they care about is results, uniform and the children’s behaviour. they treat children like zoo animals. will not let the children to the toilet when they need it, do not let them drink the water in class, don’t pay attention to mental and medical injuries, borderline strict (to the unnecessary point) and abusive, one of the teachers is a pedophile and a supply teacher hit a child across the head. the school is on the sex offender list and has had uncountable bomb threats they dont know how to prepare for. whatever you do, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL.

Was in severe pain so I went to pastoral office only for me to be laughed at by everyone there and accused of lying about it, went straight to the hospital after school and I found out that I had severe appendicitis that had caused and infection of the right lymph node in my abdomen and had caused a build up of fluid and a lot of swelling around my spine. I was than told that if I had been able to go to the hospital at least an hour before that it wouldn’t have been as severe and that the antibiotics(that weren’t working) would have at least stopped the infection in my lymph node, this infection has caused my respiratory systems already failing state to plummet.

Firstly, the school only cares about results, uniform and homework. Most of the teachers were strict and that school left me with anxiety issues. During breaks you are not allowed inside the building and food is very limited. The school is extremely overcrowded and mutliple year groups had to share the tiny changing rooms for pe. Additionally the school uniform policy is ridiculous, only certain bags and shoes are allowed and girls cannot have skirts even on their knees without facing punishment. Girls are also often humiliated by being forced to remove their makeup in class in front of all of their peers, which is way more distracting then the act of wearing makeup itself. The amount of homework set in younger years is way too much and the schools mental health team is not big enough to deal with everyone there so many students who need help go without. Many incidents of bullying are blatantly ignored such as acts of racism and homophobia.

Teachers didn't care about you unless you were in the top sets, they let certain students get aay with anything in my last year a year 11 kicked a year 7 over and over for for fun and his excuse was he was walking too slow. There wasn't much food to choose from Teachers displayed blatant favoritism They washed money on new uniforms and making the school look modern and the classrooms suffered from it teachers woukd regularly have to buy equipment for the class out of their own money Shout out to Miss Barlow and Mr Taylor though they wasn't as bad as the others

The headteacher bullied me for the last 2 years because of my medical condition. The toilets are always locked and it takes you 20 minutes to find a teacher with the key, just for them to sometimes refuse to give it to you because you should be in lesson. Most of the budget goes to painting the school and making it look modern while classrooms suffer because they have no resources. They will not let you go home when you are ill unless a teacher has seen you be sick, even if other people have it has to be a teacher who sees you. I was treated awfully by most of my peers the whole time I was there and none if the teachers did anything because they act like the more popular students are their friends.
