I had to pull my daughter out of this school as she was being bullied by a teacher there.
Reported it to the school but they seemed to think that was alright.
I do not feel like this is a safe environment to send children to.....I would aviod if I was you.
I began struggling with severe mental health issues from a young age, which affected my attendance. At first the school appeared supportive, but over time that support disappeared completely. When I was 13, I was diagnosed with cancer, and my situation became significantly worse. Due to surgeries, treatment, and infection risks, I was medically unable to attend school on many occasions. The school was fully aware of this, yet absences that should have been authorised were repeatedly marked as unauthorised, including during major hospital treatment.
In March 2022, I was moved to an alternative provision temporarily for what was supposed to be 12 weeks. However, the school then failed to properly communicate with either me or the provision for almost an entire year. During this time, I received little to no coursework despite repeated requests from myself, my family, and staff at the provision. Emails were ignored, meetings did not take place, and there was a serious lack of educational support.
By the time I finally began receiving coursework, I was already in Year 11. I had lost a significant amount of learning time, which severely impacted my GCSE outcomes.
I was also told by a senior member of staff responsible for safeguarding and senior leadership that I would still be allowed to go on a pre-paid school trip if I attended the alternative provision. After attending, I was later informed that I “no longer deserved the place.”
For over a year, communication remained extremely poor. On one occasion, shortly after my EHCP was approved, a senior member of staff unexpectedly attended my provision and only then provided work that had been requested for months. In my view, support only began once additional funding was attached to my education through the EHCP, whereas prior to that I was largely left without meaningful provision.
I was also placed on reduced timetables and attended multiple meetings, including online meetings with senior staff and the provision, about my education, but very little effective support followed from these discussions.
The only consistent support I received came from the school’s attendance team, who genuinely tried to help throughout, including practical support to help me attend during periods of severe anxiety.
Unfortunately, the overall experience had a serious negative impact on my education and wellbeing.
I am now 17 and enrolled in an online academy, resitting my GCSEs as a result of the disruption caused during this period.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this school.
I started out in the primary school and couldn't fault it, moving on to the secondary school I did well academically however I would never recommend this school to anyone especially the sixth form. Throughout my time in the main secondary school the teaching was good and I enjoyed my secondary experience, as soon as I entered the sixth form it changed. A lot of the teachers have completely disregarded any boundary they should have with their students, prioritising being a friend over actually teaching a decent lesson. The careers coordinator was completely useless as she would let students miss lessons just to sit and chat with her. If I ever needed to talk with her about something important there were about 10 other students in her office to listen as well as she never seemed to want them out in the sixth form area actually doing any work then would come out and tell off other students for chatting . I witnessed some inappropriate teacher student relationships as some teachers would let students into other lessons just to have a gossip while classes were trying to learn. While there are some huge faults with some of the teaching at this school it couldn't come without it's benefits, the history department was amazing throughout my time at this school.
omds, this school is awful. The only good thing Abt it is miss hye, she's amazing I swear do not send ur child here, dont think Abt going here. They only care Abt helping others rather than their own kids that are suffering.
