Student at Harris

Stay away

The Harris federation as a whole is floored in the worst possible way,
Send you child to one of the schools at your peril
Be aware of the policy if your child isn’t going to achieve the highest grades they will be removed from the school very close to the exams, even the head girl who’s grandad had COPD during covid and she lives with him, wasn’t allowed to finish her work at home 2 months before the exam and was removed,
She had to pick between her grandads life and her a levels (Harris Beckenham)
Let alone the sen is non existent, that HATE any pupil that doesn’t meet the grade,
There is a law suit keep your eyes pealed

federation

I was in top sets all my life, i felt i was getting little support with anything other than my core subjects, i can’t imagine what people in lower sets where getting in terms of support, the teachers are lovely and amazing however the school structure and the fact it was part of a federation really brought the school down. any opportunity we had was all in the federation itself and proved no help to going on to sixth form. probably the strictest school around, had to have specifically black bags and black coats with a pristine uniform!

Poor communication from the school

Focuses most attention on the very best and worst students academically, leaving those in the middle lost and with little support. Like most schools, some teachers are great and some are appalling. Additionally, the school fails to communicate any opportunities for students, specifically A-Level courses, leaving us destined to complete sixth form at the same school unless we know when and how to apply to other schools.

Nothing Special

Some good teachers, some very lazy. As far as pastoral care goes it’s non existent from the school, rather from a few teachers who were great, for me at least. Not a very artsy school, more of an un-adventurous standard state school. Also quite lacking in parent/student to teacher/school communication. But no schools are perfect.
