I wouldn't recommend

It's better than other schools but its not the best. If there's a better one that you know of i'd say make your kid go there. If they go hazel grove their either going to be bullied into being insecure about everything or wear their pants halfway down their legs/fake tan, vape and think they are well hard so it's your choice.

1 star

absolutely horrid. the teachers think they're gods and have no respect for students and we're just supposed to accept that or get c4's and c5's. food in canteen in overpriced and tastes like cardboard. everytime i go into the toilets, there's a teacher inside which makes me and all the other students very uncomfortable. the teaching is mid and bullies are never held accountable unless the target is gay or trans. i can't wait to get out of that school bcs there's nothing good about it

Do not send your child here.

My daughter is currently attending hghs, and has struggled a lot over the past few years with bullying, harassment and not being able to have a good education. The teachers and staff at this school won’t listen to your child’s needs or problems and will dismiss them like they are nothing. Strict rules that make the children more problematic that should be taken away. Seriously considering taking my daughter out.

REALLY POOR

0 stars if possible!! I attended this school for years 7-9 and absolutely hated it. Throughout my time there I received little to no academic support and felt as though i was put under too much pressure. It was a very unsupportive, unhappy “learning” environment in which I struggled greatly and was punished more than I was helped. They focus on silly things such as piercings, nails, lashes and hair rather than teaching their students the content. Continuing on the subject of staff, I feel the students don’t have the space and respect they deserve from them. The staff burst into toilets and demand you come out, being unapologetic when they find out you’re not who they’re looking for and lock the toilets during lessons. I’ve spoken to multiple other students who still attend this school who’ve had a very similar experience to me, sharing their concerns on the lack of support involving learning, poor lesson quality (as “teaching” is just a powerpoint and not an actual lesson), locking toilets, and overpriced, bad quality canteen food. This school also claims to have a “zero tolerance of bullying” however allow children who commit these acts to get away with few consequences. Bullying continues to spread and plague the school both in person and on social media, making it an unsafe, miserable and hard environment to have to drag yourself to everyday. I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to leave and honestly, if I could’ve left earlier then I would have. The Laurus Trust doesn’t live up to it’s reputation and I have noticed a deterioration in attitudes for both staff and students and school experience since it was established in the school. I’m lucky my new school focuses on the important things and is able to focus on both students and quality of learning!

AWFUL!

I had the worst experience and had to leave this school. Full of bullies as teachers don’t really care and students can get away with anything. School need a better headteacher and staff to improve the environment. Not a safe school at all!

Ok I guess?

Ok?I’m not sure how i feel about this school. My daughter has come home several time being singled out and targeted by some teachers because of her beautiful natural red hair. However some staff members have been really supportive and have helped my daughter due to her mental health issues. My daughters hair colour and mental health is used against her by some teachers but others are lovely.

Worst experience

My nephew attended this school and it was an awful experience. The management of this school need improving big time. They don’t care about what the students going through and the bullying they face on daily bases. They just care about schools reputation and punish the students for the mistakes they haven’t made and hide their own faults. Would not recommend this school at all.

Bad school

If you want to get bullied come to this school. Headteacher only cares about schools reputation, doesn’t care about the students! Awful school! Also the bad reviews on schools website are not shown publicly which is very shady

Understanding and actually listening to our voices

Average at best

They’re really unco-ordinated at times but there are some amazing teachers. They need to stop working us like we go to a private school because it’s quite frankly not working just making me hate school and absolutely draining me mentally, they do nothing if you have a genuine problem but follow up on stuff that is none of their business. I hate the way we are taught to pass exams rather than practical education but I suppose that’s what they are told to do. They don’t care about us at all really and I wish they’d be more understanding that we don’t have all the time to do so much homework especially when a lot of us have split parents which makes it difficult to get work done. Overall I hate the system and the senior leadership team but some teachers make it worth it.

A great school

School is amazing with supportive teachers. Amazing at tackling bullying. However, there is a slight issue with the fact there is not alot of performing arts timetabled. There is also less focus on mental health and ETHOS than should be. Other than that, a great school.

Excellent

This was amazing, great supportive staff and hugely academically successful. I'm not giving it 5 stars as the amount of performing arts has massively decreased. Otherwise an amazing school.

Amazing:)

I love this school! As much as i dont want to go because of anxiety i remind myself how much support i have. As a year 11 student i have been supported so much this year with my mental health, thanks to my head of year, staff and the nurse. I dont want to leave all the support that i am going to leave behind when i go to collage.

Bunch of Clowns

They don’t really care about your education. Some of the teachers need to be taught that THEY are the problem and THE CLASS is. As a student with mental health problems, I was never taken seriously until my therapist started coming into school. As I’m in my 5th year now, I feel as if I can’t remember my first two years due to the lack of support provided.
