Assaults

Boys are being beaten up on the way home from school by gangs of students and the school and police do absolutely nothing about it they turn a blind eye.

Very bad school

This school is not great children who seek help with anxiety they are told to grow up and go back to lesson even though they is a place called comfort base or sen? Anyway children are not allowed to go their with out a pass was is understanding but some really do struggle and just told to grow up. Also with dyslexia they do not give coloured paper or extra help in tests they only are given a small overlay and will not replace them. Students don’t always feel safe due to this

Don’t subject your child to this school

This school does everything they can to avoid helping students, tamping down bullying and racism and actively obstructs mental health/learning disability assessments. They lie and lie and lie.

Shocking

It's so boring, all the teachers are proper nasty apart from maybe 2, I agree with another person it does smell funny. I hate it and the toilet situation is really weird having girls and boys facing eachother while doing their business, sort it out.

How it got "good" on an ofsted report I'll never know. English is by far the worst lesson, I don't care about the poems or Shakespeare I'd much rather sit and stare into space for an hour.

The food is disgusting, the chicken looks raw most the time and when it's cooked looks anemic.

Needs to improve

The school is improving Ig but lessons are always disrupted by other students on coridoors. Students don't feel safe. There are cases of bullying that aren't dealt with. However staff do take care of all of their students and the facilities are good.

The toilets need improving and cleaning much more regularly. And students should be allowed to go to the toilets during lessons if they need to it's a basic human right

Happy school days

I am in year 10 now and feel really lucky since the new changes have come in the last 2 years. I’ve been on all sorts of trips and stuff, and I’ve been to Oxford uni on a trip. The teachers are great. Miss Rathar the deputy has made loads of changes and she’s dead nice. Our head of year isn’t great but there are lots of others I can talk to so it’s ok.

Not bad but not great

Hazel Wood High School is only as good as you make it. It can feel difficult to succeed at times and while I attended there were several periods of time with no teachers. However, the school will provide you with the bare minimum tools to succeed, if you put the effort in. It can be very easy to be distracted and the ethos tends to praise bad behaviour at times, which can appear disheartening. Moreover, my year group had very little opportunities to go on trips and we were never offered a trip abroad. The course variety was also poor, drama was not offered at the time (in addition to other subjects). The staff, however, where always lovely.
