Improving, but still bad.

I never got physically bullied but I was constantly bullied by nearly everyone in the school. I had my stuff stolen, my projects broken (we rarely did projects anyways) and etc. It was worst in year 7 but every time I report it nothing ever happens? It’s been about 3 years later now and my bullies still have had no punishments. The school cares more about a tie/blazer (when it’s pouring down and blazers don’t have a hood) than they do about racism and homophobia. The kids there always call people f slurs and white kids always say the n word? A group constantly bully an Indian girl and make fun of her accent etc and they still haven’t been punished. Majority of teachers are decent enough but some of them are horrible and shout a lot for no reason (sometime it’s kids but when only two kids have a quiet convo they scream). The school is defiently trying to be better because it is improved alot from when I was in year 7. They need to add more subjects though. Like idk how to explain it but like the extra subjects are only dance photography food tech wood tech and sewing. The school also needs to improve its teaching methods because a day of seneca is better than a whole term of science. Personally I think the more misbehaved children should be in lower sets because the sets are all over the place. There’s children who (no disrespect) aren’t the best at certain subjects but they are in set one and two.

DONT COME TO HYLANDS SCHOOL !!

strictly DO NOT send your child to hylands school. this school claims that they are multi-cultural when they aren’t because the school literally has MANY white people and majority are racist. also the school claims that they don’t tolerate bullying and racism but they DEFINITELY do as those things have been happening for years. racism is VERY VERY normalized in hylands school. when somebody is being called a racial slur and they try defending themselves the teachers will get angry at the person for reacting the way they did rather than suspending/talking to the person who was racist (and there parents). also all the teachers just allow these things to happen they NEVER EVER deal with it they act like they will but after they will just leave it and act as if nothing happened. they NEVER do assembly's regarding black history and poc and so when someones being racist to another and the person doesn’t have it they don’t know how to act on it because they’ve NEVER taught it in lessons/assembly's. this school will absolutely RUIN your childs mental health. (im not even joking.) it’s absolutely INSANE how RACISM AND BULLYING IS TOLERATED IN THAT HELL HOLE!!!. that school needs to be shut down because it’s honestly damaging and will DEFINITELY RUIN YOUR MENTAL HEALTH. if i were you i would ABSOLUTELY not send my child to this school unless your child can put up with the racism/bullying. be careful and stay safe (away from hylands school). hope you have a great day and make sure to NEVER EVER EVRRRRR send your child to hylands!!😡.

HYLANDS SCHOOL IS A BAD SCHOOL.

okay so first of all, let me just start with the RACISM that goes on in that school. okay so when kids are racist to others nothing gets done. when you tell a teacher about it they act as if they are gonna do something but they just brush it off. racism in HYLANDS SCHOOL is very VERY normalized. kids literally go around saying racial slurs such as the p word and the n word and etc. and nothing gets done EVER. sometimes the kids say to people that they should go back to their country. and also someone had even said to a refuge from Afghanistan to go back to there country. and people also say to people from india that they love eating curry and imitate the way they speak. and also people constantly say the n word and people think its funny and of course nothing gets done about it. and the people who usually are racist or say other stuff are popular so people are to scared to speak up as they feel threatened by the rest of there peers as the person who had said something racist or etc is usually popular and so everyone thinks they are funny and don’t say anything. someone who is close to me had even experienced major racism throughout there whole school year and of course NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT. so let me tell you there story. so basically they was in a class obviously and the lights were off. so then a student (a white pupil) said to them ‘oh wheres *****??’ i cant see them its to dark in here’. and the teacher heard what that student said but of course nothing was done. but yea. DONT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL UNLESS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM SUFFER. and if you have a child in that school THAT HAS A CULTURAL BACKGROUND STRICTLY DO NOT SEND THEM TO HYLANDS AS THEY WILL SUFFER FROM EXTREME RACISM AND MAJOR BULLYING AS HYLANDS DOESNT TAKE RACISM AND BULLYING SERIOUSLY. ALSO NO HATE TO THE LGBTQ BUT I DONT FIND IT FAIR HOW THE SCHOOL HAVE SO MUCH LGBTQ STUFF EVERYWHERE AND THEY EVEN HAVE A WHOLE WALL FULL OF IT BUT THEN WHEN IT COMES TO PEOPLE OF COLOR THEY DONT HAVE A WALL OR ANYTHING IN GENERAL. SO YEA. IM DONE. BUT ALL IM GONNA SAY IS TAKE YOUR CHILD OUT/AWAY FROM HYLANDS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE TRUST ME ITS HELL.

Horrible

As a student there I got bullied in year 7 and had several of my books, belongings, even my wood tech project stolen or broken. When I told someone about it the students involved got a 30 minute detention each and nothing else happened. The teachers either don’t care or are horrible for no reason and by teachers I mean that half of them are substitutes. I literally learned so much more just using Seneca for a hour than a whole week of science. Oh and the school cares more about whether or not we have a tie than racism and bullying. Please don’t go here and make the same mistake I did!

DO NOT EVER ATTEND.

Absolutely horrible, when I attended this school, I was told many times to kill myself, slit my wrists, and also called the F-Slur on multiple occasions, when I reported it, absolutely nothing would get done. I felt unsafe here, and when I attempted to stand up for myself, I was just thrown under the bus and nothing was done. Many of the students there was disgustingly racist to my friend, who was called the P-Slur on many occasions, and when they reported it, again, in typical fashion, nothing would ever get done. I learnt barely anything, little to nothing, and infact I self taught myself most of the stuff I know today. The school itself is in extremely poor condition, and they rarely do anything to help it. There's dirt and mold everywhere in the toilets (Which I'll get into on my next point) and it's just overall disgusting. The toilets themselves are never open during lesson times, therefore making students (including myself) get bladder infections from holding in piss all the time. The outdoor environment is gloomy, dull and overall plain. No colours, flowers, proper grass growth anywhere. The food is just horrible, MOST of the staff however are extremely kind, so I assume it's not their fault they're giving us a single slice of ham on non-buttered breadrolls, right? There's little to no information, and the activities (which were once there), are now completely removed 😍 (Sarcasm)

DONT GO IT IS BAD

everything about this is bad and the punishments are LITTRALY TAKING YOU OUT THE LESSON AND DEPRIVING YOU OF LEARNING. SO THE STUDENTS PURPOUSLY BE BAD AND DISSRUPT LESSONS TO GET OUT. they say the tolerance forbullying is 0 but in reality they just stand there while you suffer, and when you do report it, you are bullyed even more and placed next to/on the table beacause the teachears dont care. atleast they're getting paid.while students arewaking up in the morning worring about the unpaid child labour that they are going to face over and over again.....

Worst school experience

Terrible, the bullying was horrendous and never sorted professionally. Teachers come and go so you never can keep up with work as when a new one joins, they restart the subject. The food is terrible and the queues for food get so packed that if your at the back you won’t have time to eat once you’ve bought it. Mental health support was an absolute joke and mine only improved once I left and got help from my college. I hope this school improves soon before they corrupt the minds of other children.

Many issues

The school has many underlying issues with bullying and social problems and they are terrible at dealing with them. Rather than dealing with the issues at hand, they attempt to pretend that it simply does not exist. It takes a lot of courage to go to the top of the school and the social team for help, yet they do not do anything and if you have a problem with a teacher they will not believe they are the issue. It is truly appalling the number of stories that students have told me about their teachers, such as unprofessionalism and unfair treatment towards students. Many teachers at Hylands like to create problems with students when they do very little wrong, I have seen it multiple times and it makes little sense to me. They like to challenge students about things like there clothing but then push students to get annoyed and then therefore they get detentions. The environment at Hylands makes you feel like you are misunderstood, the teaching style is not great, personally, I had a bad experience. English teachers are great though...

Absolutely appalling

Hylands School is the worst place I’ve ever been to. The teachers are unprofessional and very rarely follow COVID-19 laws and rules including things like social distancing, sanitisation, gloves, masks and the list goes on.

If one student breaks one rule, it’s very likely many more students who are not involved will get punished. Unnecessary and cruel punishments are given out willy-nilly. They don’t care the tiniest bit about the mental health of children yet lie by claiming they do.

I don’t like naming people but there are too many teachers who think they are more powerful then they really are, and expect to be treated like royalty even though they treat children like criminals. Even if you complain to the school they laugh in your face and nothing changes.

I could go on and on about how evil this school is but there’s absolutely no point- just don’t bother sending your children here it’s not worth all the stress.

Bad School

never supported me with my mental health and the teaching wasn't very great. Honestly the school focuses on the completely wrong things, such as a new dance room that students rarely use, rather than use funding for new books or support for students

Not great.

Security is not great, bullying is just ignored by half the teachers and most of the teachers cant control the class.
