John Spence Community High School

I was at this school yr7-11 and have just left in the summer after my gcses ended, the school is hell. I suffered bullying and sitting alone everyday due to having no friends throughout the whole of yr11 and had no support, teachers didn’t care. Teachers don’t support with bullying even though they say they do, I had one meeting with a teacher about the situation I was in and with the girls who were bullying me which was not taken seriously and did nothing to help me, biscuits were literally being given to the girls halfway through when I was promised an apology, pathetic. After that, no teacher asked me how I was doing and checked up on my situation for the rest of the year and it took a toll on my mental health. It’s a horrible school, no support for learning, bad food/school dinners which never change, dirty, strict teachers who don’t help in classrooms when you ask for help instead they shout at you if you do something wrong, teachers who cannot handle the fighting all of the time, a headteacher who never speaks to any of the students and the list could go on. People say the school is good for sports when in reality they only offer some sport activities but if you aren’t sporty then you aren’t noticed by teachers, it’s unfair and is why the school is going downhill rapidly. Dont send your children here as all teachers even change when ofsted come and look around the school, they become all nice and supportive as soon as inspectors come and when they’re gone, it goes back to the monstrosity it is everyday. They are always on your back about attendance but never question the reasons why you’re off and don’t offer support to get you back into school just because they value their reputation more than the students when it’s bad anyways, I stayed off a lot because I didn’t want to endure what I was going through in school and teachers mentioned it to me everyday to the point I was getting sick of it but they never offered support to make my life happier in school, to be honest I think they gave up with me and my bad attendance but it still doesn’t make it right to ignore and act like a student isn’t there just because they don’t have 100% attendance and aren’t a ‘resilient and considerate student’ (what they want students to be but don’t even offer rewards if a student does something well). It’s the worst school and I regret even going there and they wouldn’t let me change schools in yr11 due to GCSEs when I wanted to as I couldn’t deal with the school anymore, it would of been their fault if something had happened to me. Just don’t even consider this school look for other better ones, this one is horrible and if your child does go here, they’ll end up as miserable as I was by the end or if your child is there now, get them out while you still can. The teaching is toxic and it makes the students this too, so horrible I don’t know how anyone gets through it. -Lexi

no care for students' mental health at all, most students are incredibly rough, I have seen physical violence and racism from students at this school far too many times and the teachers do nothing, they are totally in denial, I suffered greatly traumatic experiences at this hellhole that calls itself a 'school'.

I had a very bad experience, I was humiliated by one of the science teachers for not understanding the lesson, I also have autism and ADHD so he belittled me in front of the whole class and even got my friends to turn against me, I was traumatized by the experience and he got away with it, I dropped out in 2017 due to mental illness, please don’t let him treat anyone else like this.
