Do not send your child to this school

This school is pretty bad. I went to it because I got told it’s welcoming to people of all genders, sexuality’s, disability's, etc. But BOY OH BOY they were wrong. People get hatecrimed and assaulted almost every single day and there’s nothing really done about it. Teachers will hear students saying slurs in class and do nothing about it. If you go outside during break to get lunch and you look the slightest bit different from anyone you will get a bottle thrown at you. The people who throw the bottle don’t care if it’s full of liquid, or if the bottle is glass, they don’t care. Another example is a kid brought a pride flag to school and got it stolen off them. There was nothing serious done about it. It’s insane. The school of course claims that it takes steps but if it does then why do the people continue to do it? There should be major action taken when something like that happens, but yet it feels like it’s dismissed and forgotten about.

Education wise it is actually okay, therefore I added another star. The teachers are all really nice and if you show interest in education they will be more than happy to help you out and learn even more. Of course there are sometimes the people who ruin it for others by interrupting lessons or if your lucky, you get a rubber or a paper aeroplane thrown at your head. But besides this the education is good.

Indoor and outdoor environment is bad. When the bell rings and everyone starts going to classes, the stairway is absolutely crammed. The railings of the stairs are quite small in height too. I’m surprised no one got pushed off the stairs yet to be fair. Also to mention, when it’s crammed people like to drop water bottles or throw rubbers and pencils down the stairs so people get hit. It’s super dangerous and a big hassle just to get to class. Same with the outdoor environment really, if you go out to get lunch there is massive lines to shops.

If you are looking to send your child to a good school, I would 100% NOT recommend this school.

not it tbh

honestly, the school doesn't help much at all for mental health we have one councillor that can only see a certain amount of student each week (which isn't their fault) but there is very little else for kids that are struggling with mental health because there is very little training for it amongst teachers and especially not for trans kids.
we had a gender neutral bathroom introduced and the sign was torn down on the very first day and nothing was dine about it. kids are terrified to use that bathroom for fear of being slagged off or even getting bullied (which happens regularly). there is a lgbt and allies group every Friday which is great but even at that, kids are always going to laugh and, make fun of it and nothing ever gets done about it.

the schools all there for being non denominational and rights respecting until someone is actually coming to them with a problem and its their job to fix it.

the school always plans to tackle bullying but never goes through with it or when they do its a one time thing that is going to get continued but no-one ever hears about it after.
the office staff are horrible, they look at students as if they're on a lower level and its disgusting, i asked to have the door opened for me because we have doors that lock and i was looked at as though i had a dead cat in my hand, i wasn't even late for class or anything, i was called out of class and i had to go to the other building.

its understandable for adults to raise their voice to be heard but the amount of times that students, YOUNG STUDENTS, of the age of 12 and 13 have had teachers screaming at the top of their lungs in these children's faces, in front of class mates, that is the type of behaviour that can cause trauma.

the school food is atrocious, the sandwiches have fillings that fall out the bread, its the bare minimum to feed kids, its often questionable to tell how long the food has been there. at the café for seniors, the food runs out extremely quickly leaving a lot of kids hungry because they cant go to the canteen, there's nowhere near enough time to wait in line to get food and eat it. the dinner ladies are nice though.

the school is anything but covid safe, the stairwells are a safety hazard with the amount of students that are being crammed into them with the pressure if being in their next class on time or making it to the other building on time without the doors locking. times for kids leaving classes are supposed to be staggered but the doors lock 2 minutes after the bell, which no longer goes off so teachers don't always realise the time and it causes kids to be late for class and more that often they get shouted at for being late.
the music department needs a deep clean, you can see physical dirt on the guitars.
the pressure of usage of masks was only introduced after most of the school was sent home to isolate and even at that many students still get away with not wearing them when they arent exempt.
the desk sanitizers were almost water at one point and it was like that for almost a whole month with some classes not even having them.

there is also certain teachers that don't accept the fact that students don't always learn in the same way that they do and it might take them longer, and these teachers wont do anything to help the student learn which can cause long term damage on their grade for that subject.

it is also evident that some teachers have their favourite and will always answer their questions and jump to their needs straight away and it always seems so be the popular kids, but if its anyone else they're not going to get seen to straight away and they'll more than likely fall behind because of this and from there they'll get shouted at and then it becomes a spiral.

the resources for departments arent even, the art department has so much money for new paint and supplys, compared to the pe department that is running bare, the music department has one working guitar lead but loads of imacs. it feels as though the money hasnt been spent properly.

there are students and teachers and that do care for everyone that are nice and the school as a whole is okay compared to others but there is so much room for change that really needs to be followed out.

The school does nothing for someone’s mental health apart from make it worse, there’s bullying going on every single day and it only gets worse instead of better!
