Lack of empathy

This school is an absolute disgrace. It has no empathy. A total lack of understanding for children who have suffered bereavement. A total disregard for children's mental and physical wellbeing. I have experienced this as a professional ie working with the school on a professional basis, a parent and grandparent. That's covering some 20 years. It was diabolical under Principal Brown's era and has not improved. If your child is vunrable or needs nurturing I'd definitely look for another school.

Don't come here!

As a former student of Minsthorpe, I feel compelled to share my honest review of the school. While there were some positive aspects, there were also a number of concerning issues that should be addressed.

First and foremost, there was a persistent and unpleasant smell of fish that came from the toilets. This made it difficult for students to concentrate on their studies and was a source of discomfort for many. It is concerning that this issue was not addressed promptly and effectively.

Additionally, the quality of the food served in the school cafeteria was subpar. The pink chicken burgers in particular were of poor quality and had an unappetizing texture. It is important for schools to ensure that the food being served to students is not only safe, but also of good quality and nutritionally balanced.

Lastly, there were reports of students vaping in the school toilets. This is a serious concern, as vaping has been linked to a number of health issues and can be a distraction to other students.

Overall, while there were some positive aspects to Minsthorpe, these concerning issues cannot be overlooked. I hope that the school administration takes swift action to address these issues and ensure that the school provides a safe and healthy learning environment for all students.

disgraceful

i went here from year 7 to the start of year 11. my mental & physical health got so much worse in attendance, and the only support they provided was intervention which consisted of cute dog pictures, colouring books and motivational quotes. another ‘service’ they provided was a mandatory intervention that i was placed in along with disruptive kids because they didn’t know where else to put me. these people grew a relationship with my mother and completely violated any protocols by telling her about everything i had ever spoken to these people about.

i’ll be the first to admit i wasn’t the best behaved all of the time, bringing alcoholic substances into school and refusing to talk verbally to most people. but this school didn’t help at all. the only person who ever helped was the attendance officer, who helped move me out of that awful school to a better one, and the wonderful receptionists who always greeted you with a smile. ive been at a new school for the rest of year 11, and i have 4 months left here. it’s the best i’ve ever felt in education.

i had never realised how horrible that school was until i went to another one. please do not send your child here. i can guarantee this place does not care for the well-being of your child, only the attendance and their ability to cooperate. a good portion of staff are rude and disrespectful, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t good people. it has been a while since i have been there so things may have changed.

if your child is lgbtq or otherwise, avoid this place at all costs. kids are beyond fowl and the school does nothing about this. they cover it with a guise of lgbt clubs only run by a volunteer post 16 student that was checked up on by a staff member every couple sessions. autistic students are treated like show ponies, and depressed students are ridiculed by their lack of attendance. also the amount of drugs in this school is crazy. saw a few deals go on in broad daylight between lessons. students bringing weed in phone cases, kids noticeably high, etc.

my advice as a former student with minsthorpe community college, don’t send your kids here.

Horrid school.

I hate it there. The teachers are rude and the food is disgusting. The only good thing about it is the flavoured water. Honestly. It's a disaster there.

5 years of wasted education

thankfully im no longer at this school but for 5 years i would dread going to that school. i was bullied heavily for 5 years and whenever i mentioned it to staff nothing was done. whenever homophpbia or transphobia was brought to their attention they would say i was being too harsh when i genuinly felt scared to come into school. the teachers provided minimal support and i only felt completely comfortable with my year 11 maths teacher and a teacher in specialist support. yet on results day i was the talk of the staff room because id managed to get above 5's in everything despite my predictions. to end i'd like to say im really glad i did not choose to go to that 6th form because i dont think i could have taken another 2 years at minsthorpe

Honest review of the school!!!!

Absolutely disgusting school, I’m still at the school, the food is vile wouldn’t dream of eating it, I’ve even witnessed teachers turning there noses at it and putting it in the bin, the bullying is awful at the school and staff seem to blame the victim always and remove them from the lessons or places there being bullied the bullies should be removed, teachers seem to not care about the students at all and really only there to go home and for the money, only really the outstanding students get awarded with trips and everyone else gets left out, we’re only allowed to the toiled once per day and if you break them rules sanctions are put in place there is no option with sport I mean I don’t enjoy sport at all but I was forced to do it and if you refused you would be bullied by the sport staff and called a pussy or wimp, personally being at the school I’m 100% failing all my exams because I’m not making any improvements and regret choosing the school but it’s easy to access(cannot wait to leave at all) and I honestly think they put a front on when oftead come to the school
