Awful

If i could give this school a 0 star rating i would. I got bullied for 2 years and the school did absolutely nothing about it, meetings upon meetings getting promised something would be done about the bullies and nothing ever got done. The school is full of people that think they’re “hard” and the toilets are filthy. Most of the teachers only care about uniform but it’s always the naughty ones that they “love” are the ones wearing it. I would not recommend this school at all!

A thorough review of The Newbridge School

This is a school with a culture of derogatory behaviour. Many students have expressed concerns about bullying and how little it is effectively dealt with. Many of the issues that Newbridge display are listed and explained in detail on the 2022 Ofsted report, which they received an Inadequate rating from. People are constantly getting detentions and isolations with little to no effect. Most students return to classroom environments as bad as before or worse. A student was recently suspended due to a fight, and many others move tutor groups due to behavioural issues. PE faculty has proven that they have little concern about physical health when that is the point of PE. For two lessons, students were forced to engage in a cross country run with little source of heat. KS4 students tend to target KS3 students with a recent situation reported of a corner claim nearby the diner.KS3 students were attempting to socialise when some Year 10 students were presenting them with threats. Food was also thrown at the KS3s. The victims have reportedly not been in the corner after this incident. Sexism is very evident within PE due to students having a changing time of less then 3 minutes before their next lesson. Girls are heavily targeted in expectations to be perfect. Students of other genders e.g transgender, demigenders, genderfluid, non-binary amongst many others are put in a tough spot when students are put in groups of boys and girls. There are 3 groups/sets that have been reported in Year 8. A girls group ‘the people that don’t try’, a mixed gender group ‘people that try but struggle’ and a boy’s group ‘good at sports. Many students are misgendered, deadnamed or are given the wrong pronouns because they fear telling staff as many parents of LGBT students at The Newbridge School, aren’t fully accepting of this group and staff may put a student at risk if notified. Thank you for reading this review 😊 -SPA

Worst school ever, From Echo

Newbridge is VERY aware of the harm it causes to its students but it does nothing to help, or prevent it. The school makes a negative impact on the metal health of students and their overall daily lives. The staff are mostly oblivious to what goes on in their classroom. They use shouting as a method to deal with the misbehaved students, or they punish the entire class. Instead of actually listening to their students issues and acting on them to make them feel safe, they sit there and brush off any mental health concerns. Bullying is a huge issue at the school and the teachers, are again, oblivious to it. If an lgbtqia+ student comes out to them, the staff either out them to their parents or they tell them to out themselves. On freezing winters, the staff send the students out to P.E in the harsh elements, not allowing coats or hoodies to be worn. they say that hoodies are not a part of the kit when it clearly states on their website that a navy blue hoodie is infact, in the uniform kit. They do not allow students to take of their blazers even on the hottest of days. They let their students be pushed around, taken advantage of, and manipulated. Overall, this school is the root cause of any mental health issues i may have, it has made me want to do drastic things, for the love of hecate, bastet and the other wiccan gods, help me.

Bullying & racism!!! The head teacher is useless! The teachers don’t teach anything & when you ask for help they give you a suspension or after school detention! This school has just been on the newspaper & this is still ongoing with the bullying and racism & nothing is being done!! Please do not send your kids to this school!!!!!!!

facilities are DECENNNNTT but overall school is like a 3.7/5

school not ready for gcse(year10 and 11) yet still went through, wouldn't recommend, only if it's the last option , they do polls to decide on uniform, facilities etc yet don't listen to the majority(jumpers or blazers poll, jumpers had more votes yet still changed the uniform and expect everybody to pay a ridiculous amount just for their blazer, overpriced uniform in general) don't do anything about bullying or racism if anything make it worse, decreased their lunch times to 30 minutes so by the time your finished in the food queue it's time for your next lesson, the facilities and school overall isn't bad, they have a 3G pitch (very good) sports hall which is also amazing, changing rooms and decently sized, not too small, but people in year 10 were told they would keep the same tutor throughout there time in newbridge and have changed tutor numerous times with also changing year groups 3-4 times

Please save us before we get screwed

This school has messed me and my friends up multiple times. We’re only in Year 7 and have already been through quite a bit with each situation leading into the next. Now, with it moving to the Lionheart trust, things are gonna get more screwed up. The school already has mixed messages and poor communication on a few things and a change this big should at least have a few definite answers but everything seems to be muddled. I myself am not a fan of change and not knowing things beforehand so this is gonna cause some freak outs later on. We need saving from this absolute mess of a school so please for the love of Gravity Falls, HELP!

Newbridge

Not good.

This school is rife with bullying and bad behaviour. If your child is a bully they will thrive here. If your child is not then beware.

My experience

I went to this school a few years back the learning side of being a student in classes was brilliant. But the SLT and headteacher was useless they did nothing about bullying and people being homophobic. Smoking happened in school. Good sports facilities and sports teams and tournaments. Overall my learning experience was great and the teachers were lovely but emotional support was awful

Review of the Newbridge School

Racism and misogyny exist and is at the heart of this school. The school claim they are a diverse school, but the school itself is 90-95% white. After the race report commissioned by Boris Johnson was released, which said that institutional racism no longer exists in Britain, I disagree as I have experienced institutional racism at this school. I had also experienced racism and I felt like I was the criminal, and was segregated due to the people at this school. It is a hostile environment. I too have also witnessed racism and racist language, misogynistic comments made by students, xenophobic language by students, and are dismayed at how students feel that they are able to get away with this.

The school recently held a day where students could come in blue to celebrate Leicester's historic win on Saturday. However, the school does not celebrate nor incorporate black history into any aspect of school at The Newbridge School. Black Lives Matter was failed to be mentioned by the school, of which raised awareness of what brutality people of colour go through and racism that we face. Diversity Month was meant to take place, but has been delayed and delayed for months which makes us as students feel like it would never occur. These are some examples of covert racism, these subtle messages, prove the school feels the need to cast aside students of colour and students that do have an ethnic background. These messages make us as students feel that the school wants to disregard the ever importance of our history and us learning about our history.

Mental Health awareness week, something which the school claims they care about, was not mentioned once during the week.

The school had also failed to mention Sarah Everards' death, which outlined violence towards women, something us as students experience and will continue to experience due to inequality and the lack of education.

Failing to acknowledge these things, makes us as people feel disregarded, not cared about and also makes us feel that our lives do not matter as much as our peers - thus highlighting male privilege and white privilege at this school.

We as students wants change now!

Review

The Newbridge School

This is an extremely bad school. Racism is at the heart of this academic school. They claim to be diverse, but is 98% white. After the race report commissioned by Number 10 Downing Street said institutional racism does not exist, I can disagree and I can say that I have experienced systematic racism at this school.
I spoke up about experiencing racism, and was made to feel the victim. I have witnessed pupils be racist, misognyistic, xenophobic at this school, with little to none occurring in the aftermath.

The school held a day where students could come in blue to celebrate Leicester's historic win on Saturday, however this school does not celebrate nor incorporate black history into any aspect of school life, nor talked about Black Lives Matter. Mental health awareness week was not mentioned once by this school, nor do they acknowledge religious festivals such as Eid. This is covert racism, these subtle messages, prove the school feels the need to cast aside students of colour and racial background, and disregard the ever importance of their history. This makes us as students feel worthless and less important to our fellow students. Not once have they celebrated Black History, only talked about the struggles that POC have experienced in their history - Slavery, Civil Rights Movement that is it.

The school failed to mention Sarah Everard and her death, which outlined violence towards women and how some of us students feel on a day to day basis.

Failing to acknowledge these acts, make us as people feel disregarded, feel less important to our fellow students and thoroughly shows to us that white privilege and male privilege is allowed to occur at this school.
