Newcastle School for Boys

This school has repetitive loss of teachers which I cant see as a good thing. Teachers coming and going is a problem. With the heavy amount you pay for this school it gives no further incentive as average grades in better local non-private schools are comparable. The school does not also teach students basics in computers which is surprising. We now have to teach our kid basic use of computer ourselves.

Our son is now in non-private school and he already clarified that teachers are much better and more attentive to understanding by all kids of the topics. In NSB teachers just quickly cover topic no time for explanations and then quickly go over past papers.

The school also has no real space for sports, just one little playground on the side and uses other schools instead. With the exception of a few teachers we did not see really any quality. Our son in the end got better results only in science and that was simply because we hired extra teachers. What I really didnt like about this school is that it completely separates itself from developing career interests in kids. Waste of money.

Exceptional

My son started in Year 3 in September 2023. It's a small school with emphasis on developing the boys characters.
The feedback from the school is excellent as is the commication with parents.
Unlike the sate sector my son is extended. He is so happy at the end of the day. He does a club most evenings after school. There is so much choice; Pokamon, volunteering, art, music, yoga, golf, sports... they change them every term too.
I feel the skills the school are giving my son will help him so much in the future. They teach thinking not ticking boxes. The teaching staff are exceptional.
