How bad the school is

The school is absolutely terrible because one the toilets only one set of boys and 2 girls they need to im prove them by sending 5 thousand pounds on the windows and bathrooms . Another reason why it is terrible is the bullying: the teachers do nothing about it they just said ignore them and go away from it . It is also a non gum school but yet there is gum under the tables and chairs in every class room . Another reason is the lines for food: people cut in front and shove you around to the floor and the time you get there there id hardly any food there so you have to starve until you get home. I would not recommend sending your children here if they don’t want to experience any of the thin tv mentioned above . This school it terrible but some teachers are nice like ms surridge and miss mazepa

Avoid unless drastic changes are made

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the conduct and disciplinary procedures at Newmarket Academy, which have significantly affected my child’s experience. Over the past five months, it has come to my attention that the school operates under a disciplinary approach akin to a military camp, with punitive measures that appear disproportionate and, in some cases, unjust. Specifically, I have observed that boys are subjected to harsher disciplinary actions compared to their female counterparts, which raises questions about gender equality in disciplinary practices. Girls who exhibit similar behaviour often receive more lenient treatment, a discrepancy that should not exist in an educational environment that values fairness. Moreover, the vigour with which after-school detentions are enforced for minor infractions, such as dropping a book, strikes me as excessive. This rigorous stance is creating an oppressive atmosphere for students that is contrary to the supportive and nurturing environment a school should provide. My child has relayed distressing incidents, including verbal abuse and belittlement by certain staff members. It is disheartening to hear that the zeal of some staff to exert authority overshadows the commendable efforts of others who are committed to constructive teaching. The well-being of students should be the cornerstone of any educational institution, and when their formative experiences are marred by such negative interactions, it necessitates prompt and thorough intervention. I urge the administration to re-evaluate the current disciplinary policies, address the lack of consistency in enforcing rules between genders, and ensure that all staff members maintain professionalism and respect towards the students. I write this review not only for my child’s benefit but also in the hope that the school environment can be improved for all students. I am confident that by listening to parents on these matters, we can achieve an educational atmosphere that encourages growth, equality, and mutual respect.

Many problems with this school.

Please do not send your children to the academy. ever. The school claims they have a "zero tolerance" policy for bullying, but this is everything but the truth, if a student has clearly been a subject to bullying for a long time and the parents report it, the school will respond saying they will take action and consequences will be placed if needed but this is far from the truth. The school wont lift a finger to take action.
Not to mention the schools severe lack of decent teachers, this is due to the fact that many teachers have left (I don't blame them) and the replacement are either people with zero experience with teaching, or a "temporary" substitute teacher who cant control their students, both of which replacements have 0 knowledge of the subject. Not to mention many of the teachers are sexist, racist, homophobic etc. One teacher got exposed through a variety of creepy emails (no telling if they were fake or real) and not soon after he left the school "without reason". Parents weren't told anything about the situation and still haven't heard a word. The replacement couldn't ever control his students leading to many people being removed from the lesson, every lesson, another issue is whenever a student asked for help with their work, he would completely ignore them and do his own thing.
The schools toilets are always closed for vandalism reasons or renovation reasons, and some have been closed permanently.
A recent issue is shoes. Yeah, shoes. As the school year is starting the school have decided that any "trainer like" shoes will be banned, even if they are black leather shoes. This is forcing parents to waste money on shoes the students don't feel comfortable wearing because they simply don't like them. The Staff have threatened parents with detentions for their children and even threats to force students to wear plimpsolls if they are caught wearing something that the students find comfy and actually want to wear.

Absolutely awful.

The school is horrible. The people you go to for help hardly help. Help for bullying is none existent, teachers have no control over the class and then the school Cates about the public image of itself more than the students.
