GCSE

They only say the good things about this school and cover up the bad

I went thought nunnery and each year that I went though the mask breaks bit by bit. I had a lot of trouble with bullying due to my ADHD especially after lockdown with hand sanitizer thrown at me attacked and verbally abused from year 8 till year 10 the “support “ and “senior leadership team “ did nothing other than switch me to the other band and did nothing to prevent any other issues and started to get into trouble for not turning up or fighting or being disrespectful and just handed me a detention and didn’t ask why I changed like this in year 10 and on the first day of year 11 after an assembly of how “every day counts in year 11” next thing I know I get sent to isolation due to a ear stud that I got as a cultural thing with romani gypsy culture and they proceeded to try and force me to take it out when I couldn’t otherwise it was risk of infection. Other students were allowed literal ear rings and didn’t say a word to them. The SLT didn’t know a thing on what was happening behind the closed doors of toilets and just stuffed cameras inside the toilets and locked the toilets at random I resorted to sitting in disabled toilets till it was lunch because the lessons I was given before I could choose turned out like this: firstly walk in 2nd get verbally abused get my chair kicked get smacked on the head with teachers not battering a eye lid and then teacher has a melt down at the whole class when your in the lower sets your chances of passing are small due to most of the students who obviously don’t want to be there make the time fly by making everyone not learn much in a 1 hour lesson and there’s 5 lessons a day in year 9 it was like this every lesson I was not the worst case of bullying here but still it effected me in many ways there are worse schools in the city but this school makes it look like one of the best in the city it’s not it’s really not them past papers where students got over 90%. Was back in 2015 and I bet you they still show that to unknown parents and think “wow” at the end of the day they did little to nothing about bullying and they hide it from ofsted every time only taking them to the top set classes and who ever has issues with the school and being there isolation and if ur bad you get to go home and have food at home a free period basically every kid will go through this bad time but the school
Could at least do something about this and not just say they did something then just cover it under the rug like it never happens and as well as a student passing away due to this issue and what was the first thing the school said about it “it was nothing to do with us this school is a safe place “ needs some serious change and reforms to help students and discipline the ones who can’t get it right properly and not jsut a slap on a wrist only times they have been taken out of school is if they did soemthing to harm the school property or drugs you could get ur teeth broken by getting assaulted here they wouldn’t do little to nothing

There’s so many thing I could say but let’s just leave it at this

1. Most of the teachers are horrible
2. Uniform needs changing bc it’s the ugliest thing ever
3. Istg I’m not doing EP for GCSE so that needs changing
4. So strict for no reason
5. Pretty much regretted going there as soon as I walked in

But other than that yea it’s great

Just a little rant xx

THIS SCHOOL IS LIKE A MENTAL ASYLUM! they put barriers over most toilets so you have to travel 1000 miles to go to an open toilet- just to be kicked out by some staff lady for “spending too long in there” sorry miss I’m just tryna take a shit. Not to mention the food, taste so bland and it’s expensive for what💀 I get the school is financially crippled but they don’t have to take it out on us I jus wanna eat man 🙁. The school deadass still looks like there’s nuns roaming round there☠️ also the teachers hella strict n racist for what 😭 ESPECIALLY PE!! they clearly have favourites and emotionally abuse others for not being as athletic to “standards” on a Monday morning (not even being dramatic). Neglect from teachers is so common to students especially of colour. I’m not saying all teachers are like this, some teachers are so lovely, but it’s sad that I can name more bad teachers than good. The school should take actions about something about this. Especially if they want admissions to grow and people to have a more positive attitude towards school instead of being mentally drained out.

be careful

some teachers are racist and ignore the fact they are teachers and only focus on the top class students (made me nearly fail english cuz the teacher only focused on two students) other than that it’s chill

Idk how to do this but

Made me feel so unsupported at times, teachers can be right dicks but can help if you actually seem to be ‘needing it’. Did give me a lot to learn and a lot of right ways to learn it compensating for the other factors, my heads of year (3 of them,) were really good and always had your best efforts at heart when doing anything for you. Never want to re live but would go back in a heartbeat to say goodbye again.

Great for grades, bad for mental health

Nunnery gave me decent GCSE grades, especially considering the amount of days I missed due to having viscerally horrific panic attacks because of their poor handle on mental health. I felt unsafe to talk to my "counselor", and when I requested a different one they just... Didn't give me one (despite saying they would). The food is expensive and not allergern friendly, literally the only veg/vegan food is a tiny pot of near gone off fruit. Music and English department need more funding. There's a lot more to say which I don't have the energy for

Sometimes good sometimes bad

Overall, some of the teachers are very lovely and understanding but in general if you’re having an issue with other students or an issue elsewhere not much will be done.

NWHS is a supportive, proud school

Nunnery Wood High School has given me a great chance of growing and learning in a supportive environment, allowing me to achieve the grades I want to, go the extra mile in class or join that extracurricular activity and then get praised and recognised for my work. And for those who do the opposite, they get the help they need, or if not, they get the punishment deserved, fairly. I have improved deeply in my sports ever since I joined this school, and for those who wanted to improve, they have greatly, with the facilities to assist them along the way. The teachers are always there for their students and will hold that firm attitude when a student misbehaves. The amount of extracurricular, events, competitions available is extraordinary and there is not a single student who can say that they don’t have the options to choose from when giving an excuse for not participating in anything.

Alright

It’s alright ig I’m in a later year- most teachers are shit or moody and honestly can’t wait to leave the people. Love the atmosphere tho, fights a lot.
