Paignton academy

As a student that goes to this school it's a pretty average school but I have to say theys a lot the school can improve on including staff, the actual school building, the way teachers teach and discipline kids and more.

General really to be honest

So I kinda love this school, it wasn't the first secondary I went to but as soon as I got there it felt like a place of comfort. I have made wonderful friends the teachers are lovely and will help you if you're scared, worried or even if your not they will check up on you. Now see I love the schools overall as they handle things with a good perspective but a thing that I would put to fault is the new school shoes. Boys and girls are required to wear 'propper' shoes that are Polish able ect. Now some parents may not be able to afford this and with the kids playing around being kids the shoes get destroyed pretty quickly and that means more money is having to going out on them. If the school would of have just stuck with the classic trainers everything would be much easier such as P.E shoes and money. I know a lot of the shoes aren't as comfy as trainers so lots of the kids are getting blisters. Now I do love this school and I do think the teachers are incredible and I wouldn't put a fault on that. They have helped me and people I know numerous times when we seem to get ourselves in a little fall out. The school has became a lot stricter since the beginning on January 2021. Overall the school is a safe place for many kids and they do enjoy to be there except for the odd time they haven't god hardly any sleep because they've been doing all nighters with their mates. Now I'm in my 3rd year of paignton nd as I stated this isn't my first secondary for personal reasons but it sure is my favorite.

Abslute a donkeys backside

I'm sorry I moved to this school like beginning of Yr 8 as had trouble from my last school and thought this one was gonna be better don't even get me started. The people r absloutly rude to another nd the teachers do jack all about it nothing I'm telling u I'm always in drama but even if I don't start It I'm the one getting blamed bc I retaliated and that makes no sense what so ever. Would I recommend this school? No. I wouldn't unless u wanna be the bully. Food is mingin but its better than the people so yh. Teachers don't give a if ur starving urself aslong as ur alive ur good but I know many people in the school who sh but school don't bc the kids r scared of the teachers themselves that says something doesn't it. You get called gay behind every corner u walk by nd if u retaliate good luck u will be spending all of ur day in reflection. Only thing I've learnt at this school is trust nobody nd fake everything bc people will use everything against u.

The new head is terrible

It’s a very bad school and especially the new head teacher that has taken over, he has made it an uncomfortable environment and people don’t like it.

Ruined my mental health

I entered this school in year seven a happy energetic child and was expecting something like hogwarts but let me tell you, the way this school handles bullying is atrocious. I was bullied for years by a group of students who would give me death threats and they even physically assaulted me on school ground in front of a camera and what was their punishment? 4 days suspension! Oh yeah and a handwritten apology brilliant, good job A+, they bullied me more for that and made my life hell, I felt unsafe in the school and I couldn’t trust any of the teachers as all they would do is make the bully apologise and that does nothing, I had to deal with this issue on my own and it severely impacted my mental health and my self esteem will never be the same after 4 terrible years at this school, if you are a naughty kid from a rough family you might love it here, plenty of weak kids like myself you can push around but I will never forgive this school for not helping me in the darkest time of my life when I needed help most but didn’t know how to get it.

It’s alright

The school has a no bullying policy but does not enforce this policy at all. Some teachers are amazing, some are average and some straight up bully their students for no apparent reason. The students at the school, while some are nice people, are mostly rude and unkind.
If you have an issue with someone and report it to a teacher, their normal resolution is to sit you in a room with them and tell you to talk it out. (Which in a lot of situations at the school, it isn’t a good response to certain issues)
While this is all bad, some positives is the food they serve at lunch and break times, the sports facilities and lessons are very good and generally pretty inclusive and classrooms aren’t over full.

Poor school

This school is poor, the students are annoying, the teachers are alright, the food is good, the exams and homework are terrible, also don't trust the school with bullying or safeguarding issues, they do not care.

Worst school in the bay

Some of the most unprofessional teachers I’ve ever seen, most of them pick clear favourites over other students, school is very unorganised, constantly changes it’s mind on rules. Some teachers have a serious issue with power, often harassing certain students for no reason. It’s easy to say this is the worst school by far in the bay.

Ok school

It’s a good school, what lets it down is the bullying and how the teachers handle it. The sports facilities and that are brilliant.

A very good school with some faults

The school has recently changed the measures with instead of the school having year group zones, the school is now open for all year groups lesson, masks are mandatory in communal areas (corridors, entering and exiting classrooms, in the canteen when your not eating) which is a great measure, since opening the academy up to the students the school have implemented a one way system at the entrances and exits to the buildings which can be rocky at times but is helpful, the social distancing from the students is poor and in most places isn’t happening other than this the COVID restrictions are good.
The school it’s self is made up of 2 sites with me being at the borough road centre for 3 weeks after moving up from waterleat road centre. The teacher at the school are great and they really care about the students, I’m glad to know that the school is quickly devolving and becoming much more modern on both sites. All in all the school is good
