fucking shit

i’m autistic and so is my now 16 year old brother. The school have refused to make adaptions for our needs because it is “unfair” on the other students, despite us having medical needs. My brother tried commiting suicide about a month before his GCSE’s and they literally did nothing. It’s such a fucking shit school

My opinion

This school is awful the amount of stress and anxiety this school has caused my child ! However some of the staff are really nice and receptful. You can get lines for forgetting stuff lines for wanting to go to the toliet. Sports day and the school trips are not organised. the whole school is a mess

Avoid if you love your kids

Only get great a level result because they chuck out most of the year at the end of Y12 if they aren’t getting top grades. Criminal really. Don’t let your kids suffer the appalling mental health issues that come with attendance at PGS.

Good lessons+education, bad standards.

While the schools lessons arent bad , the standards are way too high. It's gotten to the point where teachers (specifically SLT members) smile and greet the boys walking past them but when it's a girl they just look straight at their skirt. It's degrading and if it's deemed as "too short" they'll humiliate and embarrass us.

The school is unempathetic and treats us like we're robots.

However, the lessons are good and the tests are usually a good correlation to what we've been learning in class. SOME (definitely not all) teachers are nice and treat us like humans beings you can have nice conversations with them and can ask questions without being bellittled; others are the complete opposite but generally it's a decent school I guess 🤷‍♀️

The school meals are nice but have no variety. We have pasta 3 out of 5 days a week and the only other hot meal available is pasta. It used to be pasta available every day or main meal. Now its pasta or pasta.

When we're inside we're told to sit down. Once I went to put my tray away and on my way back to my table I was shouted at and told that I must be sat down.

Dreadful lack of student support

Honestly very unsupportive of students. Making students sit through lessons while they're having panic attacks, not allowing students to leave classrooms if they are triggered by the subject matter, not listing to students individually or as a body. Overall a very negative, atmosphere while being told everyday how lucky we are to go here. I would not choose to attend or send my child there.

PGs review

Not very good when it comes to handling bullying. Extremely strict but has great teachers and education

not too bad

not too bad compared to other shitholes near here lmao. just a bit odd how they don’t really care about kids being homophobic and racist and that. they’re getting the same punishments as people who are forgetting homework. i love miss mann she’s so nice. also the uniform is so shit, it’s the most uncomfortable and expensive thing ever had the same blazer since y7 and im in y10 because they’re too expensive. ALSO they made my music class massive so they could get more people trying to get into the sixth form for music a level meaning my class is overcrowded and not as good as it would be if mr crook wasn’t trying to make even more money.

Prison for children.

Got very obviously badly injured here in my first year and it took over an hour to call the emergency services in the middle of November whilst we were outside wearing shorts.

If your kid’s got bad mental health, do expect any support. Was inches from doing something bad and they made me participate in a bake sale. Took ages for the support staff to reply to emails, arrange meetings or do anything in general.

General approach to education is insane. Made me walk halfway across the school to get a signature because I forgot a piece of equipment whilst I had crutches. The school was on the BBC for practically scaring children for even the tiniest mistake.

Can’t say if they’ve changed much now, I attended few years back, but am glad I got out [left on my first year of attending], but their strict ideas about punishing students for forgetting a pen to teach them about the real world seems not to be going anywhere. Would not recommend anyone attend here - I could talk about it forever, but I have healing to do, as this place caused some crazy mental problems for me.

british culture

it’s shit lol. teachers don’t care when people talk about burning gay flags but all the teachers stare at the girls legs to make sure their skirts are ‘long enough’. not learnt a single thing except how to buy drugs in three years

Shocking approach to learning

Staff care more about covering up fighting and bullying than they do about teaching. Some teachers are exam board markers and yet they still teach us incorrectly. If you have any mental health issues, don’t expect any support for it - or at least any that’s helpful. Confidential information about a student doesn’t stay that way for long, as the student support officers seem to decide what’s best for us, when they just cause more trouble by informing parents and friends.
