Horrible

Talk about mental health alot, don't do anything to help. The the only thing they care about is keeping you in school and don't care about how you feel or what you're going through.

Think twice

If I could leave zero stars I would. This school has destroyed the well being of both my children. Also look into the gcses options as subjects are very limited with French being the only option for a foreign language which demonstrates the narrow minded view of the leadership team. I would say some individual teachers have been amazing but generally the management is lacking and drugs are rife through the school from early as year 7.

Regrettable

While there are aspects of the school, such as the diversity, and the friendliness of the majority of teachers, that make the school a more friendly place to be that a few others in the area, the overall experience with staff, and how they treat students, is not admirable. Some teachers are far too harsh on pupils, bullying and harassment is ripe among pupils, food is poor and facilities are poor, and general life experience (lessons that should be taught in PSHE) are not covered thoroughly enough. Promises are made to pupils that are not kept. One of the teachers whilst I was there was a pedophile. So many knife crime presentations but I still don't know what a loan is. God, I need therapy now.

ASD - avoid

Traumatised by my experience as a parent of ASD child dealing with SMT. Absolutely awful

Avoid at all costs

The head teacher and senior leadership are awful to deal with. The teachers especially pastrol are well meaning. The school has issues with children bringing in knives and drugs. The same pupil who brought in drugs was back at school a few days later so hardly any deterrent to others.

Also they don't support children with additional needs well despite a diagnosis.

The new head is much more rigid and not flexible or easy to work with I fear the school is heading downhill.

Good school

Good school, teachers are helpful and most are always to help. I passed English, maths and science and got an 8 in French!

Disorganised school

To be honest with you the school was quite bad in terms of what goes on around school amd would tell you things last minute. I remember at the end of year 10 they closed school a day early and didn't tell anyone 10 minutes before the end of the school day. (That was due to covid cases). Another thing to mention is that they deal with bullying really badly and often don't sort out the students who are picking on each other (based from experience). Teaching is good to some extent as most of my teachers were understanding of my difficulties and I got decent gcse grades in the end. Most of senior leadership team are polite and friendly but some of them can be rude to students. Another thing to mention is that there is a lot of racist language often heard around school and some of the staff don't even take it into consideration.

average but good with a few flaws

- been at this school for 3 years now and I would day it's a pretty average school but good compared to the others in the area.
- it says it's a performing arts school but apart from actual art i would say the other 'arts' are pretty bad.
- I saw another review about the studentd behaviour and I think it just heavily depends on your year group and theres not much to be done on that. although it heavily depends on just who's in your year.
- also student behaviour is definitely controlled more now and getting better since I was in yr 7 (2018/19)
- Most teachers are great, no peado type stuff
- french is the only language here and no one likes it, everyone agrees it's taught absolutely terribly. for example, at some points in yr9 I was taught the exact same thing as I was in yr 7 and now I have no idea how I will pass my French GCSE if my mum wasn't here to help me with it
- there's lots of extra curricular clubs which is good especially for the younger years
- I would also say form/ registration here isnt great and their attempt at teaching topics such as sex ed, puberty and drugs and definitely needs to be improved but they still try and put in the effort.
- apart from all this the school is still really good and lots of good teachers and activities in lessons.
- also not loads of trips but yr 7 has a good trip to blackwell court which I think everyone enjoys
- year 7 is definitely done well I think - no overwokring kids or excessive homework and good amount of activities
- bullying can be poorly controlled but they do their best most of the time
- anyway, good school and I would reccomend sending your kid here as long as you're not having super high expectations

Sort out the students

I don’t love the school. It has good intentions but the students are horrible. There is so much homophobia and unacceptable behaviour towards girls. The school keep saying they will deal with it but I feel that nothing is happening, which is a shame because the school really tries but the students let them down.
