What anti bullying policy ????

Ringwood school doesn’t deal with bullying. Broken promises and lies about dealing with it. Literally in the words of pupils the worst behaved kids do as they like. Teachers are too scared or can’t be bothered to deal with them.
Teachers and heads will tell you everything you want to hear and completely fail to act on promises.

Average

Overall education is okay but everything just seems a bit too can’t be bothered at the school. Teachers won’t tailor lessons to the range of ability just to the lowest ability, no action is taken about any bullying and not to mention the price of everything like food is so much! And they aren’t giving GCSE students a chance to have study leave until the last week claiming that you are surrounded by experts when in reality the teachers get you to do lessons of silent revision, where half the revision they plan isn’t what works for everyone.

Aweful

As a current student at this school I personally only have about a year left until I leave. I'm not upset, to say the least. The support is terrible for students. The school pretends to care when people are there to review them but they do not it's all for good shows. They use all their money on things that in my opinion are not the priority for example I think that mental health should be one of their first priories but it is clear it is not. The only time they focused on mental health was just after covid. The food is extremely overpriced and is not worth the money. The majority of the food is either too dry or too liquidated. The SEN support in this school is awful, they used to allow students to work in the hive if they were feeling stressed or overwhelmed however I and a few others have been told we are not now not allowed to. School is supposed to be or is advertised to be a safe environment however I do not feel this way about this school and dread coming into school every day and know many others feel this way too and as if we are all drained. I feel as though many of the teachers abuse their power and give out detentions for unessisary reasons. Their exam access arrangements have let me down multiple times. Although this is not all the teachers doing this it is most and there are only about 2 teachers I feel comfortable around the whole school as have been for a long time now. Another thing I would like to add is their toilet rules. They do not allow us to go to the toilet during lessons which can get especially irritating especially for girls if they are on their period and they tell us to be more organized and go at breaks however nobody can choose when they need to go to the toilet to convince other's. When we are told to go in our breaks, If we didn't need the toilet we are not going to go. We want to use our breaks to have a break not cue up to use the year group-specific open toilets. Overall in this school, I feel like Many others are unsupported and do not recommend it whatsoever.

A reflection of my time

I have just left this school as of July 2022, and i have written a review on her previously but i feel like i need to reflect upon my time spent at ringwood.

It was disgusting. I have never felt so unhappy and alone whilst attending that secondary school, they made me feel unwanted and disgusted with the way that i looked, behaved and was just overall. Instead of providing help for the students that struggled, they punished them and kicked them to the side to focus on the students who were doing academically well in order to keep up their “academy” status. Teachers pretended to care about the students there and would constantly break the teacher/student confidentiality. On one instance this lead me to be outed to my parents, which at the time didn’t go well. I am a transgender student.

Aside from this, the lack of care towards students just makes me angry overall. Unless academically thriving, students would not be paid any attention towards, or if you stood out you would be punished, too noisy, punishes, too happy, punished. Not conforming with any of their guidelines you will be punished. I stood out, I didn’t follow their guidelines. However I repented my actions and it ended up with it being bad on my half, but from what i’ve heard some teachers still talk about me. Hopefully all good things :)

the only thing i really miss from this place is the friends I made, and the few lessons where the teachers welcomed me enough to not feel like an outsider. I only hope that ringwood can up their game and become a more welcoming school towards the majority of people who struggle or stick out, i am glad i moved to a different college after my time here.

Change your act ringwood, or students reading this stand out and make a change. Do something good here. :)

Secondary School Performing Arts

Do not recommend

Lots of bullying, toxic teachers, won’t help your child get the grades that they are able to achieve. Teachers are moody, lazy and bitter. I wish my daughter went somewhere else maybe she’d be happier and have better grades.

Worst school ever

Absolutely abhorrent school. Terrible teachers, pupils and all round disappointment.
Bullying is rife as are drugs, smoking, vaping.

can’t wait to leave.

i’m still currently a student here. 5 years i’ve put up with this school. where do i start?
the school have NO respect for LGBTQIA+. one of my closest friends goes by they/them pronouns and the school goes out of their way to blatantly ignore their wishes. whenever a teacher uses their dead name and improper pronouns me and the rest of their friends all correct the teacher and their response is “no, it’s not that on the register”. a name on the register DOES NOT DEFINE A PERSON!!
one teacher in particular (who also have 0 respect for my friends pronouns and name) should be fired, not just in my opinion but in several others. i shall not name this teacher as my head of year is well aware of our views on this particular teacher. she can’t teach, she lets her personal feelings get in the way of not only teaching but also for setting detentions, it’s very obviously personal as she goes out of her way to avoid us (me and my friend group who are in her lessons), she set me and my friends a detention for not giving in our homework (which she didn’t give us the sheet for and didn’t put on teams) and set it for the same day so we had no knowledge of this detention and had to waste our lunch finding not only said teacher but our head of year so he could move our detention to the next day.
next on the list of complaints, the food. the food itself is not the problem, it’s the price. £2.10 for a panini? i could make it myself for a pound.
another issue with this school is the bullying. you experience homophobia? bullying? racism? oh well. they won’t do anything, at most you’ll get a childline card. or a little chat about how you feel, but they won’t do anything to prevent it. if you’re VERY lucky they will put you and the person responsible for bullying you in a room to chat, they’ll bully you again, and you will just get a childline card again.
another issue which might not affect many students but is still annoying is piercings. you can have one earring in each ear. if you have a nose piercing it has to be taken out, you can’t even have a retainer in it MUST be take out or you will be moved into isolation. considering we are all wearing masks currently it’s not visible and isn’t a distraction!
at lunch (no matter the temperature) you have to be outside or in the lunch hall (which has no room left given the amount of students) even if you clean up after yourself you will be asked to go outside and if you go to another subject block the same teacher will FOLLOW YOU and remove you again, i had a teacher once say “come on ladies outside, don’t make me man handle you”, excuse me? no you will not! 😂😂
in conclusion, trash school. very few teachers are nice and help you with your needs.

Terrible, needs to step up their game

This School is absolutely appalling in the way that they deal with bullying. A student called my friend transphobic slurs on multiple occasions and all they got was an apology that even the teacher said wasn't good enough. They then went on to tell us that bullying would end up in an exlusion. Nothing happened. I am Genderfluid and I don't feel comfortable with the people at the school to come out as Genderfluid as a result I am constantly getting called the wrong name. There are only a few teachers I would be comfortable talking to. They also had a period of time where they told us about mental health and what to do if you needed help. I went to my tutor at the time and said that I needed help or at least a talk and all he did was say it was my fault because I was quiet. I told him about suicidal thoughts and nothing happened,I told them about actions I had taken to hurt myself and nothing happened. They don't care. I needed help and I reached out but nothing happened they left me alone. My time at Ringwood is nearly done as I am taking my GCSEs soon and I am so glad it is. They are not the inclusive school they have claimed to be. In a survey we had to take recently it didn't have an option for a different gender, only male or female. The food is terrible and over priced. I genuinely believe that the school doesn't care about its students. Due to the use of Homophobic, Transphobic,Racist,Ableist and Sexist language that is used and goes about unpunished I genuinely feel uncomfortable and unsafe in school. They really need to step up their game and listen to the student to help with problems that many have complained about.

Honest Opinion

I’m still a student here. I’m also non-binary and use they/it pronouns. I’m disgusted by this schools lack of care for children who are part of the LGBTQIA+ Community, in the sense of “we can’t call you your preferred name as it’s against policy xyz”, i don’t think they are aware of how painful it is for students to hear their incorrect name being used. Not to even mention the sexism, racism, homophobia which is running rampant around the school. They say they are all inclusive, yet on their most recent survey set out to students, they only added a male and female gender selection box. It makes me sick and i am grateful my time at this school is almost over. All of this is without the overpriced school food, £1.20 for a slice of pizza, and £2.10 for a panini. I have no words.

Ringwood school needs to sort their priorities out, in making this school a better place where students feel wanted. Because when students say to teachers “you have it better than us”, it’s the truth. It’s not the quality of teaching we get, it’s the other sides of school. I just wish the school wasn’t like this.

School review

It’s a ok school for the area but there is a lot of sexism, racist and homophobic abuse. When telling the school they don’t go to the right measures to sort the problem. Even when COVID was going around, they proceeded to deal with it poorly having kids with covid mix with other students. Proceeding to tell parent's that they had it under control when they in fact didn’t.

good school but sexism is a problem

the teachers are great (most of them) and theres a lot of support but the school is incredibly sexist and refuses to admit that and make a change, there has been sexist comment made by many male teachers and boy, whenever it's complained about it is just brushed off. the pe kits are not acceptable, those shorts were terrible and girls should be able to have leggings or just something they feel more comfortable in. also the fact that girls can't show their shoulders is ridiculous like what is going to happen...the worlds going to end because people can see a bra strap or a bare shoulder???? it is a good school and i liked my time there but there are serious changes that need to be made

High quality of teaching

The teachers are pretty much ALL amazing, and I like that the subjects are in separate blocks. However this schools is not known for dealing with bullying very well, which is disappointing.

Horrific Head

I think this school is good, however the new head teacher has made it worse. It has turned to a prison with gates around and glass doors, the canteen is overpriced and the new uniform looks like everyone is in hand me downs, however the teaching is good. Also there are no bushes cuz of rats
