My experience so far.

I’m a Year 10 student. This school is rubbish, it’s so rubbish to the point where it’s PATHETIC. The staff just don’t care. AT ALL. I don’t learn much here, when people go to complain they get shot right back down.

Dont even get my started on the lack of “help with bullying” again. THE STAFF COULDNT GIVE LESS OF A FLYING F@CK. A girl in my year told me to k!ll myself behind my back. My head of year was made aware of this. GUESS WHAT HE DID?
Nothing. I was blamed for this. He is just a disgusting head of year. It disgusts me how everything like this is gotten away with. But small things like attendance being slightly under 95% is horrifying.

I hate it here.

The food is disgusting, and extremely overpriced. The school said they would do something about it. Did they? No no they didn’t. “It will be made cheaper and better quality” HAHAHAH wrong. It got more expensive and worse.

The teachers don’t teach. And they can’t control their class.

This school is a joke metaphorically and literally.

Overall RBA review from a Y10 student

Recently, RBA has been trying to tackle its problem with bullying. One way in which they’ve tried this is by introducing ‘anti-bullying ambassadors’. This is stupid because then ambassadors themselves end up getting bullied and made into a joke - so more problems are just created. Or people take the role on as a joke and therefore nothing is solved. They have also created an LGBTQ+ group - which has also become a joke. They’ve done this with good intentions but students are immature and unkind and making groups about acceptance and treating by each other as well have just created a basis for ridicule.
A lot of the time, bullying is not tackled well in the slightest. Those who misbehave and cause an unsafe environment for other students are frequently rewarded for the bare minimum, but perfect students are ignored and unrewarded. For trips you will see many badly behaved students invited, so many students who do their best lose out on opportunities.

Behaviour isn’t the only problem, as GCSEs approach, lessons become a lot more rushed and many students are left behind and struggling without the help they need. Many teachers have impractical ways of teaching and don’t help students who ask - often telling them to just come back after class (so said student is left struggling for the rest of the class and often do not come back after class because many don’t want to do extra learning outside of school times).

When you see entire top sets struggle with work you have to think, is it really all these students fault of can the teacher simply not teach?

Food at RBA is terrible - extremely expensive and unhealthy with little variety. Often undercooked or burnt and tastes terrible. Not one student I have spoken to likes the food - many results to stealing from the canteen as they or their parents can not afford the prices and they are denied food when on a minus balance, rendering them unable to eat for the day.

Facilities such as the library this year are often overcrowded and loud, the librarian unable to control the students - ending up with everyone kicked out. This doesn’t help as many students don’t have anywhere to go other than the library.

Overall I don’t think RBA is a terrible school. It’s just bad and there aren’t many good factors. Some specific teachers are very good, others are awful.

DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD GO HERE!

I made several attempts at trying to get issues resolved and they effectively banned me from contacting them - they couldn't even help me!

We had our Son removed from the school as it was so bad!

✨no thank you✨

Some aspects are good such as certain teachers who support their students well however some are AWFUL and really shouldn’t be teaching some departments are worse than others but overall I wouldn’t recommend. If it wasn’t for my friends I would not survive
