My experience of Sanders School- left 5 years ago.
Hi all I attended this school from 2015-2020. As a black boy in a predominantly white space, I went through constant racism, verbal abuse and even physical abuse. Teachers would even insult a child at times. They really broke my spirit and even now as a 21 year old I still get nightmares about this place. Breaking a kids self esteem while they are still developing sets them for a life of anxiety and even depression. I can even say for the majority of my year 9-10 I had substitute teachers as well. Please don’t bring your child here and always ask them to speak up about what they are experiencing. What I was going through made me feel so isolated and numb as early as 12.
Be warned this school is terrible. They took in our child that has an EHCP, but shouldn't have done this, as they can't meet the needs in the plan. This has caused a huge problem for us, especially our child. There SLT are defensive, and make things up to suit them. Especially the deputy head. Avoid at all costs - unless you like problems, and want your life to be messed up
This school is bad. They gave my friend an isolation for standing up for themselves after someone called them a rude name , the worst part is ; the first person that started that whole thing didn’t get anything. And another thing to rub more salt in the wound is that the same friend got a weeks suspension because they got their property stolen and someone got harmed with it and the frame got on them. This school should improve of actually getting a better attention span. and actually use CCTV.
This school needs a huge make over because the celling of the classrooms are about to fall on a student. Also they need to give bigger portion sizes for food. The teachers need to know that most of the students in yr11 (at the time of 2021) smoke in school on the feild and in class x
