Severn Vale School

The only thing I can say that they do well is education. There are a select few teachers who have really help me (I'm in year 11) focus and get in with it and has definitely improved my grades. For me I expierence lots of homophobia in school, I tell teachers and the don't talk to the perpetrator. And because I am feminine presenting I also experience sexual harassment, when I have spoken to teachers they said I would need evidence and told them that when I'm with my friends they hear it all the time. This rating has nothing to do with some of the absolutely amazing teachers who actually care and make sure your okay everyday when they know your struggling. The past 5 year have probably been the worst of my life. Don't go here.

Not great. There’s a lot of homophobic language used and the school believes that because they have a poster that says “some people are gay get over it” and then ignore words like th f-slur I constantly feel unsafe because of boys in my year that are evidently threats to other students. The school does nothing.

I am a year 11 student who up until within the last few weeks loved the school.

They introduced a new rule which requires students to wear a bike helmet even whilst not riding a bike as long as you have one in your possession. The school did not feel the need to make any students aware of this knowledge and therefore no students were aware. Upon challenging this seemingly ludicrous rule (in a polite and courteous manner), I was faced with an angry and almost aggressive response as well as a C3 referral from the deputy head.

Other than courrupt leadership, Severn vale is a great school with some amazing, friendly teachers who are genuinely passionate about teaching and their subject areas.

This school is absolutely amazing. So inclusive and try’s to tackle any issues that comes up. Always there to support you also. Great place to go and study.
