Experience at shenley
A school that accepts bullying and hides the school they actually are my child has just left the school and they can say it was some of the worst years of there life. The teachers do not care about students at all. They lack empathy and only seem to care bout those who cause the trouble or grades which your child will be overworked to get. As much as they will say they put mental health they don’t year 11’s being told by the head teacher to not rest and revise revise! Which yes I believe students should revise but being told that they should not have a break is unacceptable! Also being made to do a longer day just to get the grades I don’t find it fair with my child being physically blocked by staff upon trying to leave at the normal time (3pm) after a long draining day. Students being moaned at for going to drop down days because they exam is in a week to then be shouted at by teachers as they missed a lesson? What is that about! The school tolerate bullying also with my child being harrass by students in there year in which they get away with it and are allowed to cause many other students to feel uncomfortable and isolated. The children who cause distruption are sent away from the school upon higher staff inspections which I find appalling as a school should not be allowed to hide what they really are for a good review? Don’t send ur child here it will ruin them and I pity anybody who does rude nasty teachers who choose to ignore the children’s needs.

The school in general is great. Great facilities and great teachers. During PE, the school have lots of surrounding fields for which you can play football and rugby etc , and great cardio and resistance rooms as well. A large Dance and Drama unit is great and very big however due to shortage of staff, they aren't I use. Classrooms are well kitted out for their purpose with relative things needed for that subject. However, underneath all of that, students can't go to the toilet during lessons or it will be a detention. This means that during the break (20 mins) and lunch (30 mins) periods the que for the toilets is long, meaning some people miss out on lunches. You can't take off jumpers, or it will be a detention. You have to sit down during break and lunch. There is a muga, however it is off-limits for some reason. In General, the school is really good, I think that it is the leadership from school leaders and school boards that need to change. Overall, the school is great but the rules need to be changed.
