Lots of improvement needed
Lots of change over the last two years. Lots of supply staff. My children were happy and confident before they started at South Wigston High School. Avoid if you have a choice.
rubbish school
my child was completely bullied. year 11's – 10's pushed her down the stairs and hall ways are always full of students and they won't move if ur late to lesson. toilets are always full with people vaping and more. people get no lunch if skirts " too short " loads of kids get beaten up. Bearley any staff members around. building looks like its falling apart. reception staff never ring parents back at all , and reception follow you to the car to see if ur parent or carer is taking you home. my child was sat in the " hub " so they like to call it for 1 hour just to wait for them to call me for her to go home for being sick in class. someone twisted their ankle and the teachers told them to stay in school and do work. my child has sensory issues and has fidget toys to calm her down. teachers took it away from her and never helped at any point in work.

bad school. I went there and suffered. First time walked in 2023 , cracked walls , people bullying me for being having dyslexia. and autism. my dad's called the school never called back after. People made fun of me for having 2 dad's who are together and being adopted. teachers forced me to work infront of everyone speaking words from my page. I got a detention for going on dentist and forgetting to tell a teacher. I tried to explain but I was 1 hour late. I live 42 minutes away from school and doctors is 20 minutes away from me. my dad had to rush to school making me 1 hour late due to traffic wise. People made fun of me for being autistic like biting myself , screaming and having skin issues. this school is a prison. teachers are just horrible. I only had 3 teachers I liked Mr slack , Mr durbin , Mr Chidwick and they all have left. students were saying Mr slack was gay and he was such a nice a teacher and someone made a child miss there lunch for not having a tie when they haven't eaten all day. I'm home schooled and I feel safer. People used to pick me up and throw me into a bin. nobody helped me at all.
My review
I still go to this school I got bullied and laughed at and the teacher just stood there and said nothing so I went to the other teachers they tried to help me but the people never really left me alone. The toilets aren't safe either because people bang on the doors or hideout there like its a hangout and theres no doors before you walk in either. Other people in my year who are nb they get misgendered all the time, some refuse and say its "stuipd" and autistic people in my year are being bullied for being autistic aswell. And my friend got pink chicken in the cafeteria and then didnt eat it and wasted their money

I left this school a few months ago and am now I'm my first year of college. This school was hell.
I am a transgender autistic person and the amount of bullying I faced at this school was unbelievable and they tried in no way shape or form to stop it from happening. the only people who tried where the students!
and recently, I found out how the school 'handled' female students wearing skirts that were too short and I am absolutely appaled. They recently introduced a new policy that stated skirts had to be knee length or students would be out into isolation. and on Monday 12th September, they brought ALL of the girls into the main assembly hall and had staff check their skirt length with rullers, those who did not follow the new rule were put into isolation and locked them all in a classroom, not letting them out all day. some students attempted to climb out of windows and some phones their parents, telling them what was happening.
the food at this school is appalling aswell. one of my friends brought chicken from the cafeteria and was taken into hospital with salmonella a few days later.

The teachers will force you infront of everyone to read out your work, they shout in your face. there was a girl and she was grabbed and dragged out of a classroom.

0/10 It is a horrible school to be in. Teachers are not nice, they were even teachers who have been known to be racist towards students here.
It was not a good learning environment for anyone. They don't handle bullying and don't talk about it either, they let people be bullied and don't seem to care.
They have terrible mental health support in this school, no support whatsoever. They even refused to call an ambulance for someone when they needed one.

My experience at South wigston highschool.
I am a neurodivergent non-binary person and the support for people like me are very limited. Most of the teachers don't use the correct pronouns for me and I still haven't gotten any help that is useful to me in my exams. The corridors are very cramped so they are often crowded which means it can get very noisy and it sets off my sensory issues, this can sometimes make me overwhelmed and then sets of a panic attack. I use fidget toys in class to help me concentrate but some teachers don't understand that I use them to help me so they sometimes take them off me or tell me to put them in my bag. The bullying at his school is getting to much out of hand,especially for minorities and the staff don't know how to handle it. The school claims they have an anti-bullying policy however me and people like me are still bullied and most teachers don't know how to handle it.

Pretty average school, best public school in Leicester. Great teachers and good learning environment.
