It doesn't help with eny think and teachers doesn't now how to do they job and wouldn't send you kids there
A dangerous environment
This school has gone drastically down hill in the last year, behaviour is out of control, there is no respect for the school or staff with doors regularly smashed apart and staff threatened and assukted. The SLT simply cover everything up when you raise these issues. Its only a matter of time before a pupil is seriously hurt. The staff are trying there best but there is no support from SLT and they do nothing but blame staff for their own failings, it is no wonder they are struggling to retain staff.
Fab School
I just wanted to say what a really good school Spen is. My son absolutely thrives and is on track to get grade 8 & 9s in all his subjects. He feels happy and safe at school. The Head Teacher, Ms Clacy, is very responsive and any issues no matter how small are responded to. Honestly, I know every school has it's small issues and niggles but for the majority you can't go wrong with Spen.
Extremely bad avoid at all costs.
Worst school ever allowed me to be severally bullied I ended up being moved school they placed me in isolation instead of listening to my cries for help during lesson too when I struggled happens to many I know and knew too. Teachers are bullies half the time they put you down. Overall I learned nothing here other than how to be depressed and hate my school life. Avoid it seems it hasn't changed either now.
Extreme bullying, no discipline and lazy staff
My child came to this school with high grades, happy, gentle, confident and helpful. Now she self conscious, undervalued, isolated, afraid, suicidal and has mental health issues. Cannot do her GCSE’s and afraid to attend school.
The school has very badly behaved and and abusive students. Both verbal and physical abuse.
The teachers allow it as they do not have time to discipline. They don’t practice the anti bullying policy. They are very much clock in and clock out of work.
Please if u care about your child’s welfare and education, don’t send him/her to Spen Valley High school.

Behind the scenes
Spen Valley High School is the the most unprofessional School to send your child to. There is always favouritism from all staff to pupils. All staff not going extra mile to deliver safe informative education. They turn a blind eye or take their anger out on children. They segregate children and don’t take an interest unless it affects off sted.
The Anti bullying policy is not put into practice, in fact bullies are free to roam and bully. The victims are segregated and their education effected. Where as perpetrators are enhanced. The school has had too many students depressed, suicidal, afraid and their grades dropped.
Spen Valley High School delivers a glossy squeaky clean advert to get pupils into their school. I am a parent and feel all parents have the wright to know what they are sending their child to.
There is racism, violence, both mental and physical abuse at this school. Head teacher and staff will not take action as it effects off sted due to being documented.
This school is very bad at safe guarding children. A lot of parents have been discouraged, but feel our children’s safety comes first.

Review
At the beginning it was an amazing school. Great teachers and good students. The lessons where great and the after curricular activities were the best!
However since getting a new head teacher, the changes were quick and un-needed and frankly didn’t last long. Now the school is just a joke :/
