St Michael’s Catholic Academy REVIEW

St Michael’s Catholic Academy is a school that has decreased in quality in recent years. The former headteacher was a much better headteacher than the current one.

There are students in this school were severe mental health issues that are not being resolved very much, and I also hear other students calling people names very often.

A few teachers have favourite students - which isn't right.

The toilets in this school are a shocking mess! Sometimes I walk into a toilet and I don't feel like going because they are very dirty.

Most of the teachers are good at the very best and there a few that are some excellent teachers!

The computers in this school are so in need of getting replaced. Some teachers even comment that the computers are too slow & won’t work at very important times!

The school is safe as the school has practised 2 lockdown drills at the time of writing this. Bullying rarely does start to happen but I do see a quick response from teachers once a crowd starts to develop near the fight, most students probably wouldn’t get bullied though.

I seen students being told they have a detention that will last a few minutes at the end of the school day just because they were like 2-6 min late! I get that the school needs to encourage students to arrive to school on time but there are certain circumstances at times that prevent students from arriving in on time.

A couple of the lessons students may have can be quite boring at times as the lessons aren’t very engaging as the teacher may just speak about the topic for 20-30 min and hand students a worksheet which isn’t a fun activity for many obviously.

The exams in this school were really well set up though! The invigilator always prevented people from speaking and distracting others in the exam & always answered people’s questions & requests in a helpful way.

There is lots of outdoor space in the school which is very big pro for many students.

Overall, St Michael’s Catholic Academy is a school that is still a decent school but has decreased in quality over the last year due to the new headteacher being less skilled as the last one.

My school

Apart from school football this school is got a lot of problems, let's start at first aid you could break 5 ribs they wouldn't even check you out they would maybe send you home but if you have been sent home before they will just tell you to get on with it. Bullying and fights happens almost every day at huge amounts and the teachers do nothing they couldn't care less about your mental health and finally the worst of all
TEACHERS there is the odd few teachers that are good and that are nice yet the majority are so unfair
Like if you are a boy with a girl teacher she "probably" is sexist towards boys and certain teachers pick on students to shout and tell off for minimal reasons I recommend going to a different school this place sucks (but the food is tasty).

It's fine, I guess

The majority of the teachers are fine, but that could be just for top set students. Some teachers just cba and you can tell, especially when you are online learning and they send you a fucking YouTube video instead of teaching you themselves. The school itself is quite good, but the rules about where you can go in the building at lunch time are a bit dodgy.

This school is an absolute laughing stock!

Horrible place, the amount of bullying is an atrocity. I’m a former student myself and I was absolutely tortured for my appearance, weight and disabilities, the teachers did NOTHING when I was being victimised by other students. I’m going to emphasise this because a majority of the teachers DO NOT CARE about the students and if they do, they tend to pick out their favourites. Absolutely disgusting treatment, it’s laughable that they still actually hold the title of a catholic academy, especially with the amount of neglect and ignorance me and so many other students have suffered. If you’re mean and popular, this is certainly the place for you!

Parents, I desperately urge you NOT to send your children here. My experience in this school has absolutely shattered my self-esteem, my confidence, and my happiness! I never truly felt comfortable in school and my education was exceedingly poor.

They have a lift for disabled people to use (allegedly) and I have cerebral palsy, i have difficulty walking and I wasn’t provided with a key to use the lift (obviously the school didn’t know this because they didn’t bother to read my medical record). I had to ask the staff myself but they should’ve provided every single disabled student with access to that lift, no questions asked. This is the 21st century and if you want to make your mainstream school more diverse, install ramps, install more than one lift, create bigger classrooms, a proper hub for mentally and physically disabled students and educate your year groups because a lot of them are disgustingly ableist! This school is a disgrace and I would NEVER dream of sending my future children here.

Absolute laughing stock

Horrible place, the amount of bullying is an atrocity. I was absolutely tortured by other students for my disabilities, appearance, etc and the teachers did NOTHING when I was being victimised. The teachers do not and I mean DO NOT care about the students and if they do, they pick favourites. Absolutely disgusting treatment, they can hardly call themselves a catholic academy. If you’re popular and mean, this is the place for you! I wouldn’t advise to send your kids here or they may end up with a large dose of depression in later life.
