the reality of thomas more.

i was a student at st thomas more. i joined as a year 7, happy and excited to join a new school, a better school. by year 9 i realised how wrong i was about this school being “better”. i left school with diagnosed anxiety and depression. the pressure put on students by the school to get good grades is disgusting. just because the school don’t want any bad grades, they are sacrificing their students’ mental health.

the mentors, from personal experience, do not help. they merely say “this is normal” and do not assist the problem, which would make the problem worse for the young person as they think they are overreacting on the ‘thing’ that is making them feel depressed, anxious, stressed etc.

the food quality is disgusting. there have been cases of food poising on many occasions. disgraceful. which in one way, isnt the schools fault. (with this statement, i am in no way shape or form trying to defend the school.)

the school doesnt do much about bullying. many people i know have been/are being bullied and have came to the school about this issue and they have had nothing done about it as teachers are “too busy”.

on another note, option choices are horrendous. forcing smarter children to do options they do not want them to do, making them unable to persuade their desired career in some cases.

furthermore, recently the school have had to change from St Thomas More RC Academy to St Thomas More RC High School due to insufficient funding to keep the school an academy. previously, the school had to fire teachers, sell equipment just to get out of the hundreds of thousands of pounds debt they had.

to sum this up, do not send your child to St Thomas more.

Like a state prison but with less funding

Has like 2 good teachers, the rest just abuse their power constantly. Students are either posh arrogant arseholes from tynemouth or violent low lifes from meadowell. Got actual food poisoning nearly every time I forgot my packed lunch and had to get school food. Came in year 7 excited and happy, left in year 11 diagnosed with social anxiety and themes of depression. Also had all my options chosen for me at GCSE just cos I was “smart” and they needed people to boost their terrible average grades up meaning I can’t pursue the career I actually want. Also everyone is forced to take re as an option too which is absolute wank. Had the most pointless set of rules you could even imagine too. Basically don’t send your kid to a catholic school. Oh and don’t forget about them literally going millions in debt and therefore having to sack off half the teachers and getting rid of fundamental learning equipment a couple years ago cos they wanted a “new dance studio” that wasn’t even used. Shit school ngl

Rubbish school

Worst school, teachers are awful and ridiculous. Cheap furniture that is always damaged and falls down. Food belongs in the bin and tastes like sick! Students are weird and annoying particularly year 10 VSCO girls. PE department is a joke, just dance and collecting rubbish isn’t pe!

Cheap

worst school ever. Teachers are stupid and dramatic. Rooftiles always fall down. Carpets are ripped up. Awful food. Whiney students, year 10 girls in particular. People are scared of getting in trouble! and cry when do
