I missed my mock maths GCSE exam due to being raped by my stepfather and taken into emergency foster care at 3am that morning, and I got screamed at by teachers for missing the exam, without them even bothering to ask why (I was a straight A student and academically gifted and very very diligent and academic - completely devoted to school and study, so for me to miss even a regular class was extremely unusual. They knew I was growing up in a severely chaotic and abusive home environment yet decided to blame and shame me, rather than ask questions or be supportive.)
However some teachers were okay, and the quality of the teaching overall was very good.
