Stretford High School

Hello, I am a former student of Stretford High school and I would just like to talk about the negatives and positive aspects. The school certainly puts standards on us and do give us good education, some teachers offer brain breaks which show they care about our wellbeing. They are doing a good job trying to push our learning and it isn’t too rough. But I’ve been experiencing some problems: Lack of support for individuals with poor mental health, I was promised regular check ins after facing depression and anxiety from school yet nobody has even asked me if I’m okay. Large consequences for small mistakes: Getting detention for being unaware of small uniform errors is too extreme, and there should be at least a verbal warning. Teachers punish students for small things very often and I think that should change. And the school refuses to take proper action against bullying.. It isn’t horrible but if you’re looking for a better school overall I think Stretford High wouldn’t be the best..

My experience with Stretford High School has been appalling. Lack of communication, not getting to the bottom of issues, sanctioning students unnecessary, no voice for students if they say anything in their defence the students get into trouble for arguing with the teacher, its like a jail. All the criminals get away with things. The school brushes its problems under the carpet. They have a big issue with vaping but the school does not accept that, its appalling i would never send my child to Stretford High, ive had enough of them.

Extremely disappointed with this School. Kitchen staff treated very badly by their supervisors. When allegations made these not properly investigated, and bullying allowed to continue. A school should not tolerate bullying of anyone on site weather it be pupils or staff. I wouldnt want any child of mine to attend a school where adults who work there are creating a toxic environment for other staff and being allowed to get away with it by senior staff.

They really do push us hard and help people achieve good grades however the behaviour system and consequences weren’t always fair. There were many times where I rightfully got into trouble for my actions and accepted my consequences yet the people who often instigated my negative actions towards them wouldn’t even receive a verbal warning. Some of the teachers also need to go easier on students who’s mental health isn’t as good as it should be.
