Terrible school!!!
This school is absolutely disgusting. The teachers are terrible, they do NOT care about your mental health and well being, they will put you into isolation for the silliest of things. They care more about your appearance than they do about your life problems and your concerns. As a student that went to Byrchall high I can happily say I do not miss it. It was a horrible school that did not care about me one bit. Everyday I woke up to come to school I would have to beg my mum not to make me go because I was either scared of bullies or concerned for my health and safety. They do not handle bullies or any type of abuse whatsoever and they side with the wrong students. They would favourite certain students such as the naughty ones instead of being equal and giving each student the help and support that they deserve. Byrchall high school is not somewhere you would want to go.

Byrchall high school is terrible, especially with bullying and dealing with issues. I would not recommend this school to anyone. I moved school and ever since I've been at Byrchall my time here has been unbearable, because of the constant bullying that was ignored by staff, despite raising concerns multiple times, the other students are just rude and nasty. nothing was done to properly deal with bullies and i was made to feel like the problem for just speaking up. The teachers were either completely uninterested or outright rude. some seemed more concerned with enforcing pointless rules than actually supporting students. A few teachers even appeared to have favourites and did not hide their dislike for certain kids. It was discouraging, demoralizing and honestly, a toxic environment to learn in. There is no real support system and some students are expected to deal with loads of crap while the teachers and bullies get away with it. Every day has felt like a battle, not just with the work but also the people around me. This school is a place where you are constantly stressed, ignored, and treated like you don't matter unless you are naughty and bad behaved. It drains you mentally and emotionally, and it leaves you feeling worse about yourself every single day. The teachers are unapproachable and the students are vile. This school need some serious changes. I feel bad for the new children that join this school and don't know what they are getting themselves into.

absolutely shocking !!! no empathy for any of the students. Can never be bothered to deal with bullying, threats etc always get told they will deal with it then never do. The teachers can never be in the wrong and it's always the students. Most of the students are either mean or just have no manners at all. They always find a way to twist it so it's the victims fault so they never hafto deal with any incidents. Food advertised that had never been served and most of it is served cold. Only a few teachers that actually care and most of them don't have the authority to act on anything. If i could go back in time and never of went to byrchall i would do it in a heartbeat.
Bullying
A relative attends this school currently her life’s been hell bullying and it not being dealt with properly going by other reviews it’s the norm at this school not dealt with why should nice kind hearted pupils be moved and nothing happen to the ones with really bad behaviour

I hate this school because they are liars & bullies, they sent the police to my home one night saying to the police that I keep my daughter prisoner.
The school also made a appointment at my Dr's surgery without my permission, I als just found out that when a pupil gets isolation the pupil does not get a break or lunch.

not for the average smart kid
overcrowded buses, got looked down upon if you were late by bus, god forbid you need to piss during a class because they will make you destroy your bladder health just so you can learn pythagoras, teacher focuses are set on the stupid, reckless, or mentally ill kids. you’d better off throwing a chair once a week and getting a grade 2 if you want to be appreciated. oh, also a pedophile for an IT teacher

Its kinda bad
Im a student at byrchall and i can say, most of it’s ok but there’s just some parts that are horrible. Students are out of control in lessons and are never sanctioned well. The only decently run things are science and maths department. The school’s an absolute mess and is never cleaned. Student mental health is horrible and things like bullying and harassment are never tackled. The place is old and is never renovated, though they are rebuilding the school in a couple years which from the looks of the place should at happened at least 20 years ago. Teachers are horrible and in most cases are horribly strict and ignorant. The food is well made but is very expensive 95 pence for a radnor fizz. Kids go through money in days. Probably one of the worst schools in the area. Another thing is, the roads outside the school are extremely dangerous and unsafe for 11-16 with barely any common sense. Fights happen weekly and are never handle well. So to sum it up, its sort of bad.
Worst school in Wigan
Right can i just say the teachers target certain students and instead of getting to the bottom of a problem, digging around trying to figure out why they were doing whatever they were doing, they just scream at you. You have failed multiple students, going into college and the working life with undiagnosed learning disabilities because you don’t care about them. I do not recommend any of you parents with SEN kids or kids with mental health problems send them to this school the support is poor. The caretakers and cleaners get treated like slaves and teachers look down on them like they are some sort of peasants. The only well ran department is the maths department and even then compared to other schools is just average, humanities is appalling and you shouldn’t force kids to do RE, you need to get better teachers in that department. Science is also appalling, staff come and go like it’s euston station and CASP and PDL should not be a thing it’s a waste of time except from sex education and finances. Form tutors also failed to see eye to eye to their students offering little support. Everything is outdated and the facilities are poor, everything’s falling apart. Bullying is handled terribly and the SSC staff are useless, just nosey and don’t actually care or help. There’s a decent range of extracurricular clubs but for gods sake get rid of the bleep test in PE lessons nobody actually likes it. Hope this helps :)
