The Coopers' Company and Coborn School

The science department are amazing, with my teachers constantly helping me improve my grade and enjoy the subject even more. In regards to teaching they are very good but the pastoral team can make a few incompetent decisions most of the time leading to much frustration and time wasting. For example, they want to implement a pshe lesson for year 13 every Wednesday morning with our 5 lessons and extend lunch from 30 minutes to an hour keeping us at school for over 8 hours on this day where we should use that hour to study for a level exams next year. They love to mention and promote the usefulness of form and studies where in actuality form is pointless and I’m just sitting there there half asleep waiting for 1st lesson plus nothing important is announced anyway (waste of time) and studies although a nuisance and extremely boring I do get the use in this just wish they didn’t place these as my last lesson. In regards to mental health the pastoral team do deserve credit here because they have helped me overcome a problem effectively though when I had worries after my first exam (I get terrible exam stress) they didn’t acknowledge the email my bio teacher sent them and as a result only my bio teachers reassured me despite the pastoral team receiving emails about this. Overall good school for effective teaching just the pastoral team and their obsession with uniform and them being too over protective to sixth form students belittle the schools credibility for me. If you don’t mind dealing and encountering these problems I mentioned go to this school because you will get a good grade out of the it.

Put to much pressure on us in year 11 and are constantly reminding us how well last year did and that we can not ‘let ourselves down’ and are humiliated in front of your peers by calling out your test scores from best to worst. It works though, produces the best grades in the area, however not great for mental health as there is no support there.

Umm okay - not great , like to stress kids out , not too bothered about much more than grades :)

racist tory students everywhere. safe guarding teachers who make situations worse. no regard for students mental health. overall snobby
