Do not send your child here

Terrible school, massive homophobic + transphobic culture, which is all either ignored or also perpetuated by staff, if your child is LGBT they Will be bullied here. Constant pressure throughout the school about getting good grades, lack of care about mental health and awful pastoral, I didn't go to them about bullying as I knew they would make the situation worse. A few lovely teachers but that's basically all it's got going for it. The building looks nice but is genuinely falling apart.

i genuinely almost died.

worst 5 years of my life. i was told to drink corrosive chemicals in class by my classmates and only i was reprimanded if i said anything back to them. my head of year for year 9 and 10 (whos name
rhymes with Schmill Schmith) told me to go back into the closet and that it was my fault that i was being harrassed. i also told him that i was actively suicidal to which he responded that it didnt matter. i was agoraphobic to a certain extent at school which meant that i had a phobia of going to assemblies. i was luckily allowed to sit them out but the aforementioned teacher constantly used that accomodation as a bargaining chip, saying "if you dont behave youll have to go back to assemblies" he then escalated this manipulation by then saying that if i got any more detentions i would have to go back to doing girls PE (i am transmasculine). There were some nice teachers that made crossleys just about liveable but one of them has now left and even if he hadnt i dont think i could have made it through another year at that place.
TLDR only send your kid here if you hate them and dont want them to survive their GCSEs.

Excellent school!

Crossley Heath is a fantastic, inclusive school with high quality teaching. There are so many opportunities for students to develop key skills essential for their future careers and there are lots of exciting extracurricular activities. Being a student here has been truly wonderful!

Amazing school loved it and all the teachers were considerate. Helped me to kick-start my career and I owe it all to this place.

I think that some of the earlier comments are really unfair and I would question the motives for posting them. My experiences of Crossley Heath and those of many of my friends are really positive and we love school. The majority of staff work hard for us in lessons and to put on events such as the house ones. My experience of the pastoral team is that they do really care about us and want to help us. There are definitely high standards at Crossleys and that should be seen as a good thing not something that suggests the school is bad or uncaring. My friends and I are very proud to be at this school, it's a shame that a few others are not.

super school

This school is an amazing place to learn. The staff are very caring and supportive. The pastoral team and tutors really care about their young people. We are supported with MHWb and all our studies. The school is diverse and all cultures are celebrated. Standards are high and excellent behaviour is expected and enforced to make so everyone is safe. Students are challenged to do very well academically but it there are also lots of fun and clubs to join.

the building is historic and unique

Shambles

Awful experience at this school.
Everyday is always filled with another teacher trying to cause an argument

Crossley Heath - poor

I’m a student who goes there. Grades are high and attendance but that’s it. Pastoral don’t care about the students there. Instead of actually communicating they give endless mental health assemblies which everyone dislikes. Stress is high with exams on many subjects yet I’ve had a science and maths teacher who weren’t here for the majority of the year. Now I have to stress about it because of the few weeks notice we were given. Substitute teachers are terrible, often us students knowing more than them on the subjects and on some days I’ve had more substitutes than actual teachers. Some teachers have favouritism and are prejudiced against some minorities. When you don’t do good in a subject they instantly assume you don’t try. Detentions are given constantly by biased teachers, even for being several minutes late. Due to the large queues for lunch, most people in detention have 5-10 minutes to eat lunch after getting it. In PE, girls are considered stereotypically feminine and forced to do netball, dance and more like that. Boys do rugby. Girls have no contact sport. I feel terrible for those with mental illnesses in Crossley Heath, school will only worsen them.

Horrendous

Rude staff members. Always argumentative with students and going against values. Heard teachers swear in multiple occasions, a true discredit to the Crossley Brothers

Awful

The school looks like a beautiful environment from outside, but beware as it’s all a fasçade. Never in my life have I seen such a place that rages and frustrates many students. Staff are deliberately picky, and genuinely can’t teach. Would avoid at all costs and save yourself from this place.

Horrible

Awful school. Majority of children don’t want to attend. Staff are blatantly rude and disrespectful towards children, many thinking they can get away with it. The subjects offered aren’t vast, and it seems largely underfunded. Without mentioning any names, staff always threaten students with a senior member of staff (Mr C…) thinking it will be ‘scary’. Headteacher seems unaware of such obvious issues. All in all a depressing, toxic environment.

Awful

A truly chaotic school - staff do not have a clue as to what they’re doing. They also like to make it known they are of higher ‘power’ and often abuse that through intimidating the children. The work set is too much to handle for many, and the teachers want to be there just as little as the students. Do not recommend.

Hate it here

It's so horrible there. Half the kids are homophobic and the teachers are covertly racist. There's no regards to your mental health and it's downright awful experience to deal with everyday. And they expect far too much of us, far too much to handle.

Very Toxic School

Absolutely shite school. So bad with mental health and the pastoral team don’t know what they’re doing. They don’t know how to deal with anything and students are left sad and left out, which is seen as normal. Don’t be fooled, just because it’s a grammar school it is not good. They prioritise grades and attendance over happiness and anything else. It’s a predominantly white school and those who aren’t white are whitewashed. They don’t interpret culture but instead treat it like a tick box. They are unsympathetic and put so much pressure on young kids to need to be the best at everything. It’s a very toxic school.
