Honywoodschool more like Auschwitz

Well this school is probs one of the worst if you send your children here its not something proud parents should be telling people. This school is like auschwitz and ill explain why, we have conduct cards these shitty colored bits of paper that have strikes and a toilet side to it too, so if u get 4 strikes u get a after school for 2 hours amd if u lose the card its 2 hours after school aswell and toilet once a day, if u are caught walking around you can't go to the toilet for the rest of the week. The food I'd rather eat dirt than have to even look at the food ud get better food in auschwitz. There's nothing really good to say abt the school except big up the expressive arts team and some of the pe teachers but except for that give ur kids a cross before u enter to ward of the demons you'll come across in this broken crappy school. XOXO

Shocking

The school staff systematically destroy child’s mental health, bullying amongst staff to children is tolerated, children expelled for anxiety issues making it hard for them to attend. The school covers up and lies to protect their fake reputation. The GCSE results are shocking, racism and sexism is the norm. The school is falling down, almost no school trips, terrible support to revise. The head is a chocolate teapot; nice but useless. Several now ex teachers have been convicted of paedophilia. Send your child here if you hate them and want the worse outcomes

The school needs an inspection

The schools safeguarding is shocking unfortunately they will cover up problems and complaints made to them about it within the school some of the staff members seem to pick on certain pupils giving them severe anxiety and making them feel unsafe within their school walls, they also don't seem to follow many of their own school policies and sadly many of the staff don't seem to genuinely care about the child's physical or mental wellbeing unfortunately the senco team will also do very little to help your child with their disabilities either and will allow them to continually struggle throughout school

The school with the worst professional reputation in the area

Send your child to this school if you hate them, want poor educational, social and mental health outcomes. Best school for your child to be bullied by teachers. Nasty senior leadership, weak teaching, no support for vulnerable children. School in terrible condition, looks like a poor primary school, poor activities, lack of school trips.

Average

Honywood is a good school and it’s average tbh. But I once found a vape in the toilets and people vape in there, you get pushed around in the hallways but that happens to everyone. Some teachers don’t do anything about problems you have but some do. I had an assembly about autism awareness and that really made the school better to me, they only do stuff about people with conditions . They don’t tolerate bullying but don’t really do anything about it. Oh well the cheese paninis r amazing pls make more 😍😍

Honywoods needs to change back to what it was

When I first joined this school it was great, you could where trainers, dye your hair, wear jeans. We had school ipads which allowed you to learn on your own. You could book a time to have a 1 to 1 with a teacher and learn more on a subject if you were struggling, there were apps to help you revise, it was a great independent understanding of needs school, I can no longer say this is how the school is, all of the things that made honywoods in my opinion the best school has gone, you can no longer wear trainers, no longer dye your hair, you can no longer have apps on your ipads, no longer book 1 to 1s with teachers. In my opinion these changes really effected people a lot of people with disabilities struggled even more, the amount of bullying increased as students became more rebellious. I'm not saying the school sucks, because it doesn't it is still a great school, the teachers are wonderfull, but it's just the same as every other school now.
Oh and the sen isn't the best, so just think about it more if you have a child with autism or any sort of disabilities

Probably illegal practices

This school was dreadful. I was there for a year and a 1/4 I have now gotten PTSD from the hell I was put through. I am autistic so I went to this school for the hub and the support for my struggles and they would lock me away and yell at me if I did anything wrong or had a panic attack or meltdown or shutdown. This should not be allowed by these sort of places. Nobody was trained properly and I could not take time out and I would have detentions daily for struggling to doy work and asking for help. I was give not support in class for my autism I was failing my grades were slipping. I could not enter another school for 10 months after and when I did I still had PTSD flashes everyday. I still have so much trauma around honywood so do all of us who were in the hub.

Unfortunate

Education at honywood school is very good academically and I personally find the use of iPads to help a lot. However, the school’s blatant disregard for students mental and physical well-being aswell as bullying is appalling. There is now no secure pastoral care since lockdown, making it a struggle for any student suffering with mental illness or a disability. No matter how much you struggle, they will only care if you disrupt other people’s learning (by then it is too late). There are little to no real consequences for students who bully others and use foul racist, homophobic and transphobic language which make others feel unsafe and uncomfortable. I would also like to point out that this school- unfortunately along with thousands of others- is on the ‘everyone’s invited’ list, which lists the names of schools who have an issue with sexual assault, rape, or the promotion of rape culture. There are a few teachers who actively make students uncomfortable, occasionally belittling students and making them feel isolated. We are only allowed to go to the toilet once a day during lessons, and during lunch and break the toilets are often filled with students making it difficult to go. The toilets are also often locked during lessons, making it almost impossible to go when we need. I believe that the school’s efforts in improving academically have led them to have less and less regard for the students as people, and more regard for their GCSE grades, I hope this will change.

Average school.

Currently going to the school, Food is nice but expensive and sometimes you are told off for no reason. Some teachers are really poor with the job and some are the best. If you are looking to bring your son here, I would suggest coming but do be prepared to receive complaints from your child.

Terrible school

Went here for 2 years, after year 8 I couldn’t stand it anymore. Didn’t learn a single thing, one day I literally found a brick inside of a toilet. The school is falling apart, the teachers can’t teach and is in miserable state.

overall pretty appalling

some teachers are great, some are useless, food is good but overpriced (paninis are banging tbf), the school are useless at handling bullying, 3 former teachers have been arrested for being pedos one of which used to teach me, there are/were teachers there when i was there that are also very clearly dodgy one of whom got a hard on watching year 9 girls play PE, the independent learning style is basically just throwing you in the deep end and leaving you to drown most of the time, unless you get a really good teacher. pastoral care team can be great if you’re like in their circle of regulars or ppl they like for some reason but otherwise they’re awful and tell u to go back to class in 5 minutes when ur very clearly having a mental breakdown and wanting to off yourself. the students there for the most part are nasty until like second half of year 10 when you learn to ignore each other and be civil. the buildings are crusty and kind of smell, they waste money they don’t have by putting TVs for things like reminders of school events but that they barely use in pointless places. there’s no heating when it’s cold apart from where the senior leadership team’s offices are and same goes for AC in the summer. most of the staff only start treating you with respect in like year 10. no one likes it there but you’ll have some of the funniest memories of your life there and i do miss it sometimes. overall it’s a pretty bad school but i loved a lot of the staff and they try their best with what they have to put up with, there’s just a good amount of staff there that are useless, grumpy, nasty and with a couple of them, a bit very dodgy. i did have a teacher for the first two years that straight up bullied me and loved it judging by how much she’d smile and laugh at my misery which wasn’t great. the quality of teaching is very hit or miss, for me it got better the older i got which i guess is better than the other way around considering gcse’s exist. i don’t think it’s worth going here but it’s pretty legendary in certain ways as well. anyone who goes to and leaves honywood after the 5 years are usually a different breed of human which is well known by anyone who lives in mid essex. so yeah, not worth it and going there did make me miserable tbh but it was alright at times and a right laugh sometimes

Good cheese paninis

Honestly a decent school , came out with it with good grades but the independent learning style isn’t for everyone . Found having an iPad very very useful and made communicating with teachers easy . The school are good with resolving issues and really don’t tolerate bullying however there is always some issues but that happens at all schools . Lots of opportunity’s aswell such as Berlin trip , exchange programs ect . Also the cheese panini’s are banging

I don’t recommend this school

This is a poor excuse for a school. I was bullied constantly for 3 years and the FLT did little to nothing about it. Their support team is a waste of time to go to for moral support. One of the teachers there regularly makes fun of the students with learning disabilities while another accused one of my friends of faking a panic attack as well as invalidating mental health. They employed teachers in the past who turned out to be sex offenders.

The use of their iPads have led to an incident involving child porn distribution using social media. Their “independent study” style of teaching is just an excuse for their students to take home an iPad, yet it was very difficult to do our work on there, wether it was no Internet connection or the iPads came to school damaged. Their ways of discipline is appalling and they’ve only just decided to introduce an isolation room just after I left, to which I found out that over half of the year 11s had been in there within the first term.

As for the teachers, they teach us little to what’s on the syllabus and blame us because we allegedly didn’t revise enough when it came to our exams. They only seem to favour the students who were athletes and ended up only speaking to them the entire lesson.

The school is very run down with very little money, which is surprising since in the past it was one of the top schools in the area, hence why I was sent there. The teachers are very rarely in, either illness or maternity leave, leaving us with supply teachers who just sit at their desk and don’t do anything the entire lesson.

There are little to no extracurricular activities compared to when I first started. We once had many clubs including cheerleading, film club, baking, art, photography etc, now there are only athletic clubs.

An honourable mention, however, to Miss Girling, who was one of the very few who did their job properly and encouraged and motivated me to do well in my Media exam.

Over all, this school has a bad reputation, it was once the best, but with their poor choices and making infamous headlines on the news, the schools downfall was severe. It may be slightly improving now, with therapy pets in FLT and new subjects in the curriculum, it dosent cover up for the disgraceful teaching methods they have. I don’t recommend this place.
