Avoid at all costs

Appalling school. Staff don’t listen and are bullies. No support for our child and no sympathy given the circumstances. Worse decision ever choosing this school.

don’t let your child go there

the classrooms are is a state of repair holes in the walls out dated classrooms the teachers need proper training dress more appropriately. Students struggle with homework as they are set at least 3 subjects a night and be expected to hand it in the next morning which causing a lot of stress to the students on top of that if a student wants to go to the toilet even if they went at break they are not aloud there was a case where somebody shit there self because they couldn’t go toilet it’s utterly disgusting 🤮 and to believe it’s illegal to not allow somebody to go toilet. Even though they know this law they continue to ignore it. Next thing to homophobic comments in this school is disgusting people get bullied for being gay, lesbian, bisexual etc and when they tell the teachers they do nothing about it and make them come out to there parents. On top of that that school is just packed full of racist people. there is more but I don’t have time I’ll come on another time to finish the rest

Bullying at kes

If you are being bullied they will not do anything. In my personal experience i was and currently being harrased by another student at this school. No matter how many times you report it with witnessess they do nothing. I reported this issue about 10 times before something was even said. But it continues to happen. The school make themselves the victim when you dont start coming to school for issues they could have sorted. I am actually trying to get a restraining order but the school will just ignore it. When a students private pictures and videos got leaked they put in no support for the person and they are still traumatised. There are some good teachers who will listen but sadly they are not slt so they cant make decisions. I dont recommend sending your child here as ive nearly finished my time here and all i can say is good riddance king edmunds.

Not the best

School only cares about uniform and it’s ofsted report. And Mr Halle was going out with a students parent, and when they broke up he went off school for about 3 months.

Homework

Homework doesn’t make a student better at a subject it just wastes their free time at home and makes them even more depressed than they already are

Review on schools act against racism

The school is honestly terrible when it comes to racism and bullying.

I was racially attacked and abused by a white male in my school and they blamed it on his “special needs”, he clearly knew it was racism, when I’ve told him.

My friend was called the n word and told to KHS but another white female, yet the school blamed it on her being vulnerable.

The school act like they care about bullying but they rarely deal with it or take notice.

One of the head of years blamed my friends sexuality on the reason of his mental health, and said he could not do anything about the racism issue.

Honest opinion about KES

Being at this school was the worst nothing about this school is good apart from the fact i only went to school cause of my friends. Their are a lot of bad things about this school.
1 there is lots bullying everyday and the teachers do nothing about they just want to hear the gossip and then not sort it out.
2 there are a lot of racist people at that school and the school don’t do anything about it.
3 some of the teachers in that school are unprofessional, I may admit there are the good teachers but there are the ones who are unprofessional and just dont care about their students, and some of the teachers in that school are quite rude.
4 most the people in that school are stuck up and it is really annoying how they look down on everyone.
5 students in that school are just rude and manipulative and if you are a bully or a stubborn cow you will survive in that school, whilst if you were shy you would get picked on.
6 anyone with adhd or add will get picked on in classes, even though there is learning support which is one of the good things about that school, in a classroom people who have got adhd or add get picked on unless your in set 5 because people in that class just talk and it’s pretty chill, if you have adhd or add set 4 is the worst set for you because you will get picked on and people in set for are smart but rude and right up snobby, likely chance is you will be the one getting a detention and don’t say anything to anyone in that class.
7 people cause trouble for no reason and get others into trouble, I have witnessed this myself and it seems to be that the school are to dumb and only judge of what they see and not what they have heard and the school love giving vulnerable people 2 hr detentions or excluding them.
8 the school is way to strict, even though schools are suppose to have rules KES is just way to strict especially when it comes to uniform, and for girls its worse cause they make girls feel bad about themselves.
9 this school hasn’t got many ethnic minorities, 10/ 15% of the school including teachers are ethnic minorities and the rest are white and in the rochford area there are not many ethnic minorities and like what I said it can lead to bullying.
Finally 10 theres a lot of threats from the students and people pressuring others for inappropriate photos. If your ever a victim of this I would leave straight away or people will bully you until you leave, and the school will also be picking on you and using your vulnerability to tell you off and make you feel bad about themselves which will lead to low self esteem.
That is my opinion of the school and it’s one of the worst schools. I would think twice before coming to this school, this school is lethal and can ruin you.

Review from my POV

I love most of the teachers and all the friends I've made with my time here but honestly sometimes it's shocking how poorly managed it is from my POV and I feel like they're doing their best but their best isn't working. All the subjects here are managed well and with compliance of legal requirement but the strictness on the most trivial of things when there are so many other problems more important and less focused on by them is really frustrating. I gave this poor bc I honestly think the only reason I still go here is because I'm kind of used to it but also bc my friends and some of my favourite teachers are here who handle the subjects well. Other than that I don't think there's much else I can be positive about. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone unless you have some sort of learning difficulties because the learning support department is one of the few well managed and effective departments in the school which is often a short coming in most schools. Other than these reasons I've just mentioned there's no real positive things about KES. I bet if they found out who I was making this review they'd ambush me in the Hall and send me to the headteachers office or something to get yelled at for putting my opinion across as modestly and respectfully as I think is possible and deserved.

To end this review officially, I wouldn't recommend it to most people, I probably got luckier than most with my current experience. I can only hope this school gets better after lockdown and this whole pandemic thing blows over.

KES is ok I guess

I had issues for the first 3 years due to bullying, however, in class it was amazing and I cannot fault any of the teaching staff in any way. I would however say that the social issues with students behaviour outside of school needs to be dealt with because it is causing trouble at breaks and during lesson time. The phone lockers which have recently been added ,in my personal opinion, are a waste of school funding, they say "it helps with mental health" but it is not like that we are allowed to have our phones in anyway. Also, punishment if we are caught with our phones on is harsh, they take it away for two weeks, some people need phones to get to school and contact parents, not only is this a major safety concern for students but it also hinders their education because to access and complete homework you need access to the internet. school hours can sometimes be a bother, I have to get up at 4:30 -5:30 just to get to school on time because the school buses are too busy; if we are late to school in the mornings more than 3 times we sit a two hour after school and if that doesn't"sort us out" some students may even be excluded. I believe that there should be more consideration for students like me who are genuinely not bunking off school to resolve this issue. (The canteen food is also overpriced and gross but all school canteen food is like that so...) In conclusion the school is spending funding in the wrong way and also is making some situations worse than they should be however the teachers are amazing and I'd overall recommend going there 👍
